Guangming Daily, a leading mainstream newspaper in China, reported that ZJNU has devoted itself to Africa-related work for 40 years, building research covering all 54 African countries and promoting China–Africa cooperation in education, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

ZJNU's Division of African Area＆Country Studies held its Spring Work Conference on Apr. 8, which emphasized university-wide collaboration. President Qiu Limin, VP Zhang Jianzhen, Dean Liu Hongwu, and over 100 scholars from 6 colleges gathered to advance the discipline.
