First thing I did after arriving in Lusaka was to take a short train ride to meet with local authorities at Zambia Railways. I joined Frank Tayali, Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chilando Chitangala, the Mayor of Lusaka and discussed our mutual cooperation.

UN Women, @EUinChina and the China Enterprise Confederation visited Guangdong to witness the progress and impact of the #WomenInMotion programme. Together, we’re advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace from textiles to ICT.

Binding principles and rules that apply to every state, large or small, is how we ensure that our world doesn’t descend into chaos and atrocity. Yet, in recent years, we’ve witnessed an alarming rise in violations of the UN Charter and international law. On this #InternationalLawWeek, I call on all Member States to preserve, defend, and strengthen the international rule of law.

I met the Chinese Premier Li Qiang in the margins of the #ASEAN Summit. The EU attaches great importance to constructive and stable relations with China. We want to enhance cooperation to address global challenges. Following the EU-China summit, I stressed the need to make concrete progress to rebalance our trade and economic relationship. I shared my strong concern about China’s expanding export controls on critical raw materials. I urged him to restore as soon as possible fluid, reliable and predictable supply chains. I also expressed the EU’s expectation that China helps to put an end to the Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Remove barriers, promote local material alternatives, and sustain education to drive behavioral change. 👩🏽‍🌾 Agri-food: Zero-waste food systems depend on precision agriculture, low-carbon processing, and eco-design for high-value by-products. Scaling circular models requires financial incentives, SME-friendly taxonomies, life-cycle analysis research, and behavioral change initiatives. 👕 Textile: Scaling circularity requires strong policy and dedicated funding for crucial infrastructure like reverse logistics and fiber-to-fiber recycling. Eco-design must be validated by international standards and incentivized to boost markets for recycled content and support MSMEs. 🏗️ Construction: Scaling circularity requires eco-design and deconstruction, particularly for cement and steel.
