But Yorubaland was no longer the same. Many historians believe the war made the Yoruba kingdoms weaker at a time when the British were expanding their influence. Not long after, much of Yorubaland came under British colonial rule.

For 16 years, Yoruba kingdoms fought one of the longest wars in West African history. Yet, many Nigerians have never heard of it. So I’m here to Give you the full gist 😁🍻 It was called the Kiriji War. The war lasted from 1877 to 1893, and it changed Yorubaland forever.

In life, we may only regret the things we never tried. There is little point in regretting past decisions, because they brought us exactly where we are, and we cannot know whether choosing differently would have led to something worse.
