On March 17, 2026, in the UK Parliament, ICCF UK convened Members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on International Conservation for a timely and wide-ranging discussion on the UK’s role in international conservation by Mary Creagh MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Nature. The briefing provided a valuable overview of the global policy landscape on nature and biodiversity, as well as a forward look at the key moments that will shape international action over the coming years.

Delivering biodiversity outcomes increasingly depends on credible multilateral cooperation, backed by implementation, not just ambition.

Effective conservation policy is built through informed, cross-party parliamentary engagement: grounded in evidence, not soundbites.

Pollinators & invertebrates are essential to healthy ecosystems, food security & biodiversity outcomes. It may be cold and wet outside right now, but as spring approaches, serious policy engagement on their protection matters. We're putting the winter work for a fruitful spring

Great to see so many people at our Parliamentary reception tonight. ‼️Statistics suggest that half of our bird species are on the path to extinction. There’s never been a more pressing time to come together & do what we can to protect the birds that make our planet so great!

Today, on #InternationalCustomsDay, the Wildlife Justice Commission recognises and thanks customs authorities around the world for their vital role in the fight against #WildlifeCrime. Customs agencies are often the first line of defence — detecting illicit wildlife products, and supporting investigations that target organised criminal networks. Our impact depends on strong collaboration and trusted partnerships, and we work closely with customs and other law enforcement authorities in key trafficking hotspots, where the risks — and the stakes — are highest. Together, these partnerships are delivering real results, strengthening enforcement, and reinforcing the global response to wildlife trafficking.

🧵 2026 will be an important year for international conservation — and for Parliament’s role within it. Nature finance, ocean governance and biodiversity now shape diplomacy, trade and economic stability. These are no longer niche policy areas. 1/6
