Some interesting data came out of the National Association of Realtors’ latest Existing-Home Sales report.
U.S. existing-home sales fell 2.4% from May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.09 million.
With fewer homes being sold, you might expect prices to fall as well.
They did not.
The median existing-home price reached a record $440,600, up 1.8% from a year earlier and marking the 36th consecutive month of annual price growth.
A major reason is limited supply.
The number of homes available for sale fell by 0.6% from May to 1.56 million, leaving the market with only four and a half months of inventory.
Tokenization cannot solve a housing shortage by itself.
But it could help developers access a wider pool of capital and create more efficient ways to finance new projects.
Over time, this could support the construction of more homes while making real estate investment easier to access and trade.
More housing supply could ease pressure on prices, improve affordability and create a healthier, more active property market.
