Women play very important roles in our families and in our communities as a whole. Women take care of household chores, raise children, tend to garden needs and sell garden produce to earn an income. Respect maintains peace and harmony 📷

The ICRC in PNG works closely with family members that lost loved ones during the Bougainville crisis. It is of grave importance that these families have a sense of emotional closure and to find solace knowing that they are not alone.

In times of war, neutrality is not indifference; it is a deliberate way of working to be able to help without taking sides, allowing us to reach those who need it most. Join us and artist @Vaskange on the often misunderstood role of neutrality.

Addressing the mental health needs of people affected by tribal fighting in #PNG is about responding to suffering beyond physical wounds. 👏We're saluting these women of #PNG who travel to far flung areas to support communities dealing with stress & trauma.

"During my time, 3 decades ago when we fight, we never attacked women, children, people living with disability, elderly nor those who weren’t fighting. We fought in battlefields & targeted only those who were strong, young & ready to fight us," says Chief Bejamin Tole.
