@VegetaIV Better in pure specialized hand to hand as I understand it, people believe her deep education from people like Shiva makes her superior to Batman’s dozens of mastered martial arts forms, but Batman’s ability to use his skills in tandem might make him the better overall fighter

Basically, the correct stance to have is; A. Don’t try to pretend he’s flawless and insurmountable B. Don’t try to pretend him not being number one at something means he can’t or doesn’t give whoever is a run for their money.

And also, it’s this combination of skills that has given him victories over better people. He’s beaten Shiva, he’s outsmarted Lex, he’s soundly come out on top against people who are objectively superior in a certain area because he works all of his skills in tandem.

Okay regarding Batman “best fighter” discourse… there are characters who scale above him in intelligence, in detective work, etc… what makes him so formidable is that there’s no character that scales above him in *all* of those things.

@hawkeyespoiled @batgirlhq Though canonically Bruce is like 6’2 and it’s never really affected his agility… plus, his whole mythos kinda requires him to be tall as an imposing stalker of the night; his height is one of the things that gave him the supernatural air that makes his persona effective

@ICTheAlchemist @batgirlhq okay but mainline bruce isn’t that tall. like absolute bruce is huge he’s 6’8” and the average person is not nba height. i think it just makes the most sense for bruce to be shortest, he’s the most agile of the 3 of them anyway, the taller he is he’s not going to be as nimble

To go through what she did and come out someone who champions the downtrodden, who embraces life instead of withdrawing from it, even to recognize where your own flaws might hurt someone else, takes both goodness *and* bravery.

Despite her traumatic background she still loves, still has a zest for life, and is able to talk to Bruce as a person and not just a mentor or partner or colleague or what have you. When Bruce steps up to the void, she keeps a hand on his shoulder.

This panel was always kinda bittersweet; sweet because Selina is displaying an incredible amount of vulnerability here, but bitter because she genuinely thinks she’s not good or brave, or at least not what she thinks “good” or “brave”is.
