Took hrs to get them out, why? The whole capsule could have been brought in 20 minutes.

@MoroniusE @redstagnoggin @cdrsalamander From what I’ve gathered, Type III isn’t flame resistant compared to the Army Combat Uniforms in OCP pattern they wore during the mission or FROG gear that Marines and other SOF units wear

@thomasbsauer Makes sense using combat gear instead of garrison utilities. EOD are great group of operators. Had a pair from EODMU-8 embed with a platoon of Marines to US embassy in Liberia in 2003. Then in 04 we did some training with EODMU-5 IN Guam

@ID10_Tango They were EOD/Diving medical personnel from my old command, EOD Group One. Most EOD personnel are issued non-garrison OCP gear for tactical/field work. I still have more OCP pattern combat shirts and pants from Crye Precision than I do Type IIIs.

About the old “blueberries” we wore for a number of years… An old family friend is a long-retired 4 star. Nearly 20 yrs ago, he asked his current flag officer friends “WTF?” with those uniforms. Then-serving admirals said, “Hey, don’t look at us, it was the master chiefs!” Apparently, a focus group called “Task Force Uniform” comprised of mostly senior enlisted who haven’t been to sea for a VERY long time were jealous of the Marines (many such cases) and their sharp new MARPAT uniforms at the time. The “NWU Type I” uniform was a stupid looking imitation of the Marines. Not only that, they also got rid of great traditional uniforms, added stupid ones like khaki and black service uniforms for E6 and below, and teased us with Service Dress Khakis, but never implemented them en masse; only the admirals and senior master chief got to wear them for “testing.” Whole thing was a complete shit show. At least we got quality coveralls. We need to go back. Whole thing was such a waste. No more camo unless you’re a SEAL, SeaBee, Diver, EOD, or similar. Working uniforms can be (new and improved) dungarees, wash khaki, etc. You get the idea.
Mike Glenn@MikeRGlenn

Here are two of the most ridiculous military uniform decisions of the past half-century: 1. Plopping a stupid beret on the head of every Soldier regardless of job or duty station 2. Telling sailors to dress up in camouflage even if they spend all their time in a destroyer's engine room.

@LibertyJen @NASA NASA landings by Southern California needs to hire LA based news helicopters like NewsChopper4, CBS Sky2, Air7. Their coverages like police chases are top notch.

Once again, as I am watching the Artemis splashdown, I implore @NASA to PLEASE hire some videographers with quality equipment to give better video feeds at next launch. It is 2026! This blurry crap video feed on the news is very disappointing for space travel viewing.

With all the experiences of police chases, suspect barricades, fires… NASA should have hired any or all of the Los Angeles based news helicopters and crew for the joint broadcast for this Artemis II post splashdown. Some of those shots shown were terrible

@redstagnoggin @cdrsalamander Navy has Type II and Type III which is very similar to the Marine Corps Marpat pattern. Units like EOD and Special Warfare units usually use a variety of utilities like OCP/multicam pattern

@cdrsalamander Aside from your usual “not a nautical uniform,” doesn’t the Navy have its own camo pattern(s) for when they want to wear green camo? Even an informed viewer would obviously think “space rescue, multicam/OCP: Air Force.”

@TerribleMorgan @The_Rebel_Lemon @BodycamVideos_ What base were you at that allowed this? My time at Camp Pendleton, Lejuene, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, NWS Yorktown. I’ve seen under age Marines get ninja punched for under age drinking. Overseas was totally different like Rota and Yokosuka
