IDA’s James Waterman received a 2026 Frontiers of Science Award for his paper, "Eremenko's conjecture, wandering Lakes of Wada, and maverick points", which was written with David Martí-Pete and Lasse Rempe and published by @amermathsoc in 2025.

He argues that by supporting development of modern, cost-effective capabilities through commercial technology, the U.S. can preserve its status as a partner of choice in a fast-changing environment, enhance burden-sharing and improve deterrence globally.
