@4nt1p4tt3rn I grew up on the gov't cheese, powdered milk and the funny colored food stamps. I vowed to never have my family suffer that bs and they never did. I agree completely.

Eliminate SNAP and EBT. Bring back government cheese and canned foods as a replacement. Since we can't seem to eliminate the fraud, waste, and abuse of these programs when we allow people freedom of choice, we need to eliminate the choice. You get what you get. Don't like it? Don't take it. Simple as. (Yes, I know people used to sell those items back when they were things. Because my family received them.)

@RapidResponse47 @SecWar @POTUS I can honestly say the MAXXPRO survivability upgrade program as managed by Mantech TSG was not a taxpayer net gain. Services provided by carnies with no security clearances is not the technicians our warfighters needed.

.@SecWar: Under the previous admin, we were offshoring, outsourcing, beset by cost overruns and degraded capabilities. But under the leadership of @POTUS, our builder-in-chief, we are reversing this systemic decay and putting our defense industrial base back on a wartime footing.

Our C-IED teams were constantly dealing with evolving IED threats on the ground back in '04. Designs from different makers were always... interesting. This example was easy to find (a lot were in those days). I believe it's the first homemade claymore we encountered. These days, the claymore chases you down, and I think that's far worse.

@bomber6b @BlastingThrough I'd love to chat you up some time and I apologize for my tone. I did a talk for a college Foreign Policy class yesterday and digging through all the memories made me grouchy. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.

Thank you. We all had a part to play, and we all lost parts of ourselves in the process. I see you wrote a book. I like other’s perspectives because we sometimes need to look through a different lens. I spent three very thankless tours embedding with everyone down to the foot patrols, route clearing teams, the door kickers, and the planners and doctrine writers - all trying to share TTP’s as they occurred while also focusing on tackling a huge problem that affected thousands of servicembers in real time. Take care.

We have a joke in EOD that we are glorified garbage collectors. In truth, we are First Responders. We rid the world of hazardous munitions and explosives. Not every incident is dramatic. Most aren’t. We pick up the ordnance, transport it safely, and destroy it properly. We do this hundreds of times. There is a chance that one time something goes wrong, and we don’t get to do it hundreds of times anymore. The photo is of the EOD Memorial at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

This wasn't the time or place, and I regret that. Such meaningless exchanges really are dumb when we both did a heinous job, and my issue is literally history. Later on, EOD rolled with the Engineers as one. In the eyes of folks trained to disarm nukes, Im a rank amateur. I would never besmirch the memory of warriors purposefully. Just know I was welcome in the Camp Falcon EOD hut as a brother.

I want to give you credit where it is due, but stop trying to sell yourself to the uninitiated as an “IED Expert”… you aren’t. You were an E-5 on a route clearance team, which was critical and important on its own, so be proud of it. As for why I don’t remember you, you are one of hundreds of faceless troops that I dealt with all over theater from early 04 thru 06. I came from the engineers, it is my roots, and I have a fondness for them which is why I requested them as my security escorts and as extra hands on larger operations on many occasions. But do not confuse that with the sacrifice the EOD community made in that war.

@KTB_500 @PeteHegseth Fact. I've seen so many kinds of leaders. I'm honored to have been led by such a man, Captain Vincent Murtaugh, RIP. The kind of leader men will follow into hell, smiling the whole way. Now West Point officers? Nope.

@GBNT1952 That's not ok. I hope you fellas figure that out. I was an invol, what it really meant was no awards or commendations for you, bucko. Go home. A lot of people don't realize if your commander doesn't know or like you, those kick ass awards don't show up. No one to write niceties.

I should have worded my previous post differently, so I deleted and will say this. I have multiple GBs that were on this mission that claim that information in this citation is exaggerated or false. I will do a live stream with them and anyone else that would like to set the record straight publicly. I will post when we will be going live as soon as possible once coordinations are made.
Congressman Pat Harrigan@RepPatHarrigan

Sergeant First Class Thomas J. Grasso, part of two Special Forces teams outnumbered 60 to 1, held off 2,000 Taliban fighters in Kunduz, Afghanistan for 130 hours straight. Yesterday, I sat before @SecWar, @TheJointStaff, and @HASCRepublicans, read his proposed citation into the record, and made the case that his Silver Star should be upgraded to a Medal of Honor. I know every word of that citation to be true, because I was one of the teammates he rescued from a near and complex ambush, which is only one of 14 distinct and selfless acts of valor performed by SFC Grasso during that mission.

Back in 2010 I self published my poorly written tale of IED Hunting in Iraq. 16 years later, my alma mater, Winona State University is including it into their library. Despite the bad writing, it's history now. I memorialized my unit and job and Im proud of that. amazon.com/Task-Force-Iro…

The EOKA Monkey thinks they were trained to dispose of IED’s? Sorry, former 12B (before going to EOD school), and no, you were not trained to slap C4 on IED’s; that was someone in theater decided you could do because of clearing obstacles as a doctrine, while putting SM’s at unnecessary risk for the sake of an OER. Funny, I was in Iraq on the IED Task Force in 04, I don’t remember you.

I know that now, I've read the official AAR of the war. Iran and all that jazz. I even found out those South African 155mm shells were plants by the CIA to track your aforementioned cells. It just made no sense or difference to the ambushed. Make no mistake, I love you guys. Just hard to not be angry.

@IEDHunter04 @BlastingThrough When its the highest concentration of IEDs in history, and at the beginning, there were less than 2,000 of us in all 4 services.... you get to wait homie. And blowing them up leads to us NOT tracking down the bombing cell, so we dont find the money, so we get to chase MORE IEDs.

WE REMEMBER! Today, in 2008, my friend and brother SFC Dave "Easy" Ezell was killed on a dirty little back street in Baghdad while prosecuting an IED. I'll never understand why the best of us are taken young. Raise a glass to him today! WE REMEMBER!
