HOW BOSNIA COULD BREAK EUROPE In my new @ForeignAffairs piece, I show how Dodik & RS assault on the constitutional order targets the very idea of a unified Bosnian state. Unless stopped, Europe & U.S. will face consequences later — on far worse terms. foreignaffairs.com/bosnia-herzego…

Last year we have made a conscious choice to lay bare the politics of Croatia towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, one based on ethno-national exclusivity that supports segregation and discrimination in the political system of 🇧🇦BiH. Today's positions are continuation of those same war-time goals.
Ismail Ćidić@IsmailCidic

Exactly one year ago, @IFCBIH and I published an op-ed in @ForeignPolicy about Croatia's quiet war in Bosnia. It was the site's top story for 8+ hours and the #1 article in the Europe section for over a week. In light of the latest attacks on Bosnia's sovereignty, I'm sharing it again. foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/16/cro…

Nisu uspjeli.

Pun frustracije i mržnje.

Excellent from @IFCBiH on Orbán's impact on 🇧🇦: 'the Hungarian leader served as one of the most influential external patrons of authoritarian and Kremlin-aligned actors in Republika Srpska (RS), one of the country’s two entities established under the Dayton Agreement.' @RUSI_org
Ismet Fatih Čančar@IFCBiH

In my latest for @RUSI_org I argue that Orbán's defeat could mark a Hungarian change of course for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Western Balkans. The question now is whether PM Magyar will turn a new page, and will Europe together with Budapest seize this opportunity. rusi.org/explore-our-re…

You have supported yesterday an SNSD-HDZ axis (illegal!) decision who have used every possible vile, inhumane insult at the expense of Bosniaks, only to exemplify hypocrisy today by trying to equalize two fronts. One side tries to refrain from escalatory measures, when they would be in every right to use them after being humiliated daily - every step of the way - in protection of the rule of law, the mission you hold "sacrosanct". The other side works on disintegrating every semblance of institutional authority, state law and political sovereignty, and instead gets a pat on the back. Your weak, feeble reaction reeks of amorality and will go down as another example in the endless column of why the EU has lost its path and credibility in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EU in Bosnia and Herzegovina@eubih

Inflammatory comments such as those made by BiH Minister of Finance Srđan Amidžić directed at Member of ITA Board Zijad Krnjić & Bosniaks are unacceptable and do not promote an environment of trust. Political actors have a responsibility to refrain from divisive rhetoric. [1/2]

The affirmation that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs in the European Union is deeply important and welcome, and should by all means be appreciated. Yet, Europe rightly understands, in other contexts, that externally encouraged obstructionism cannot become a permanent constitutional principle. It is difficult to imagine any European state being told that its democratic maturity will be judged by how efficiently it functions after being constitutionally engineered to make blockage structurally inevitable. Bosnia and Herzegovina is too often asked to achieve “consensus” with actors whose political legitimacy partly rests on contesting the very functionality of the state. That is a proposition that would appear deeply problematic in almost any other European setting. One wonders whether Europe would ever tell another candidate country that its future depends on securing perpetual consensus with political forces closely tied to neighbouring states that historically intervened against its sovereignty. Asking Bosnia and Herzegovina to first produce seamless “consensus” under its present constitutional arrangement is somewhat analogous to telling Ukraine that its path to Europe depends primarily on reaching lasting political consensus with actors aligned with Moscow. No democratic state can function normally if structural obstruction is continually mistaken for pluralism. Yet Bosnia and Herzegovina is frequently assessed precisely through that lens.

Look, it's not like observers have convincingly argued the Plenkovic govt is waging a 'quiet war' against Bosnia's pursuit of political reform and EU and NATO membership. Because appointing someone from that govt as Bosnia desk officer would be crazy. foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/16/cro…
