Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj, the revered President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission dedicated his life to spirituality and service. He left an indelible mark on countless hearts and minds. His compassion and wisdom will continue to inspire generations. I had a very close relation with him over the years. I recall my visit to Belur Math in 2020 when I had interacted with him. A few weeks ago in Kolkata, I had also visited the hospital and enquired about his health. My thoughts are with the countless devotees of the Belur Math. Om Shanti.

I do not know who the guy is on the podcast with Raj Shamani, but he is absolutely wrong. There seems to be a section of "health influencers" who fearmonger the public on "dangers of whey protein or protein supplementation." Ammonia production is not a side effect of whey protein metabolism, but is a normal metabolic product of any protein metabolism. Ammonia is natural, generated as a by-product of protein ingestion through the breakdown of amino acids. Of the amino acids, glutamate is the one that has maximal free ammonia generation. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK54103… In normal healthy persons, excessive ammonia generation is handled by the body and it does not affect brain function. This is done via the "urea cycle" in the liver: teachmephysiology.com/gastrointestin… In patients with liver disease such as acute liver failure or chronic liver failure, the excess ammonia cannot be cleared out by the weak/failing liver or utilized in the muscles (because of muscle loss in liver patients) and affects brain functioning, leading to a condition called hepatic encephalopathy. This does not happen if you are healthy and taking additional protein. In fact, animal meats are more ammonia generating than plant-based or dairy-based protein and in those chronic liver failure patients with recurrent or persistent ammonia related brain dysfunction, the dietary advise is to limit animal meats and include more or switch to dairy+plant-based protein to keep ammonia generation low. Whey protein and scoops of additional whey protein to target protein requirement is perfectly safe and does not affect brain function or make the person slow like what is discussed in this video. Even advanced cirrhosis patients are supplemented with whey based protein formulations to target additional protein requirements and improve quality of life and immune functions Eg: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32807252/ and pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34669886/ I hope we develop a law to deport brain dead misinformation peddling sub-standard "health influencers," like this guy in suit.

Ayurvedic doctor prescribed steroid tablets for a diabetic without any valid indication 49-year old Mr SL from Maharashtra consulted me with complaints of right forearm + hand pain and tingling sensation. He is a known diabetic on medications. He had earlier consulted an Ayurvedic doctor for the same complaints. He was prescribed pain-killers and steroids (methylprednisolone). There is no indication of using steroids in Mr SL. Moreover, being a diabetic, his blood sugars would increase after steroid treatment. My take 1. Ayurvedic doctors should avoid prescribing modern medicines, 2. Patients are better off taking advice from MBBS doctors (and not BAMS doctors), when it comes to the use of modern medicines. #MedTwitter

Hello Vijay, You, the prototype of youth in India who are science-illiterates embracing dogmatism in medical care, indoctrinated on culture and traditional beliefs for healthcare and nurturing intense anti-science and science denialism sentiments within that illogical blob of neuronal mess inside your calvarium... ...please do educate yourself before blurting out misinformation to mislead your followers. Thimerosal and Vaccines: There is no evidence of harm caused by the low doses of thimerosal in vaccines, except for minor reactions like redness and swelling at the injection site. However, in July 1999, the Public Health Service agencies, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and vaccine manufacturers agreed that thimerosal should be reduced or eliminated in vaccines as a precautionary measure. cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/… A major review found no evidence of harm from the use of thimerosal as a vaccine preservative, other than local hypersensitivity reactions. fda.gov/vaccines-blood… Even without any evidence for harm, thimerosal was removed from vaccines as a precaution - to ensure more intense safety - a dictum followed in the beauty of medical science - "First Do No Harm." Now you tell me how the bucket load of Arsenic and Mercury identified in the Ayurvedic "medicine" and added to third rate Ayurvedic practices helps in treatment of bronchial asthma, hiccups and chronic obstructive lung disease as recommended by Kottakkal Ayurveda? Ayurvedic dictum is - First Do Harm, Then Unleash a Rabid Group of Pseudoscience Sympathizers To Cover Up for It. Get better. Evolve.

Thiomersal (Mercury) is part of the many vaccines. It was banned in the USA and European countries in 1999 but still alowed in third world countries. I hope you will speak against it @theliverdoc

@rajasthan612627 @theliverdoc It's not really about some vs more. Thiomersal is documented and known and studied and found safe. It is openly mentioned as an ingredient. No ayurvedic medicine says that it contains arsenic or mercury or the amounts. It is an adulterant, the effects of which are not studied

We need to talk about this ☠️Azithromycin and Amoxyclav for every run-of-the-mill viral sore throat ☠️Cefuroxime for every viral cold and cough ☠️Upgrading to Meropenam from Ceftrixone when a single fever spike persists in the wards ☠️Upgrading to Colistin with a single fever spike on Meropenam in the ICU ☠️Starting Ceftazidime and avibactam when patient enters the ICU ☠️Not stopping previous antibiotics but adding on more antibiotics in the ward and ICUs like a domino effect ☠️Not de-esclating or stopping antibiotics on time when body fluid cultures come back sterile ☠️Over-the-counter antibiotic sales without prescriptions 💀Alternative medicine practitioners prescribing antibiotics and antifungals without a clue, when Ayurveda or Homeopathy never had a germ theory ☠️People taking antibiotics unnecessarily and for the wrong indications AND stopping after 2 or 3 pills, that too taken erratically ☠️Irrational and illogical antibiotic use domesticated/ farmed-for-food animals and in veterinary practice ☠️Medical representatives asking doctors to prescribe a new antibiotic because it is better than the rest and more "powerful" without knowing recommendations for use - and ill-informed doctors learning medicine from medical representatives on antibiotics use. 🚨This depressing list is endless🚨 This is a complete human-made disaster that needs reflection from every treating doctor to follow what is necessary to reverse the damage done and to prevent irreversible damage in patients who will one day require life-saving antibiotics. Patients with liver disease and cancer will be the worst hit because of this foolish and irrational antibiotic use. Brace yourselves.
