@MattatTheState Ohio State opted out of a game, too. Can I punish them for that?
English

I know the popular thing to do is say Ohio St. doesn’t deserve a playoff spot, but they begged to play season, Big Ten finally agreed, went undefeated, had players who could’ve opted out stay for a playoff run. To punish them for something they have no control over seems unfair.

@IlliniToffee No but we’ll get a “So PROUD of the fight!…” tweet
English

@therealJeffJ97 it’s bad. such a waste of talent.

@AVSIllini @IlliniToffee Speaking of which, he’s no longer doing advanced box scores, right? Is anyone?
English

@ILLFBBreakdown @IlliniToffee Multiple bad snaps on the C. We got pretty lucky to recover each muffed snap.
We outplayed RU, but don’t think 300+ rushing yards is repeatable in B1G with this roster. Worth mentioning Bill C projected us as 4 pt favorites in this game. RU still bad team, but friskier this yr
English

@AVSIllini @IlliniToffee Yeah, their big plays were on some really shockingly bad DB play. I won’t excuse those as one-offs, this is not a functional secondary, hasn’t been in a really long time.
Haven’t seen enough RU to know if QB always throws into traffic like that.
English

@ILLFBBreakdown @IlliniToffee If we get down early it changes the complexion of how Smith calls the game IMO. Out FGs came late, theirs came early.
I think difference in game was +2 turnovers. Stats were very close, they had big play advantage, we had efficiency advantage.
English

@AVSIllini @IlliniToffee I do agree that his ball handling is downright terrifying. This is the point in the Disney movie when the coach makes him carry a ball around campus without dropping it.
English

@AVSIllini @IlliniToffee I mean, we settled for short FGs, too.
I’d have to check the tape but I think the difference was that in the 2H our DBs stopped tackling each other and offensively we were crisper.
English

@IlliniToffee That may be true, but that’s usually a safe bet for any Illini QB. 200 yards on the ground vs a non-embarrassing D1 team ain’t nothing.
