In movies when cops are in a gun fight they always crouch down behind a car door, but I think the bullets will go through a car door? I wonder how many times in real life someone has crouched behind a car because of those movies and then just been shot.

One of the most incorrectly/"miscorrectly"/improperly quoted military axioms has to do with Prince Eugene's mule regarding the pitfalls of not thinking and reflecting on one's service in combat. The actual quotation comes from Frederick the Great on the Art of War (New York: Free Press, 1966), p. 47; edited and translated by Dr. Jay Luuvas. And it goes a little something like this... “A mule who has carried a pack for ten campaigns under Prince Eugene will be no better tactician for it, and it must be confessed, to the disgrace of humanity, that many men grow old in an otherwise respectable profession without making any greater progress than this mule. To follow the routine of the service, to become occupied with the care of its fodder and lodging, to march when the army marches, camp when it camps, fight when it fights--for the great majority of officers this is what is meant by having served, campaigned, grown gray in the harness. For this reason, one sees so many soldiers occupied with trifling matters and rusted by gross ignorance. Instead of soaring audaciously among the clouds, such men know only how to crawl methodically in the mire. They are never perplexed and will never know the causes of their triumphs or defeats.”

He is 100% correct that most of them will sometimes go absolutely berserk on the weekends and make very bad choices.

@TheBuddyCSM They had essentially this in the XM25 and deployed it in combat in AFG. Doubt it ever makes its way to the force.
IMO the M7 and M250 are not going to survive either. The ammo is a logistics nightmare, performance doesn’t justify the supply chain (same with this grenade thing)

As I've mentioned, I wrote my undergrad honors thesis on Nazi propaganda before and after Stalingrad, and basically any book about Nazis has a swastika on the spine. So there was a shelf in my house with just... 30 swastikas in a row.

In high school my dad had the hardback edition. Even when you slipped off the dust jacket the spine of the book still had a big damn swastika. So when I read it in public, I'd just periodically shake my head in disgust, like "that darn Hitler!"

A few months ago I talked to a $mcd owner who had a Buc-ee’s open 10 miles away, and it impacted him.
While I don’t get the allure: clean ‘80s-looking bathrooms with cheap drinks and overpriced everything else, they are a major competitor in the food space. I’ve never seen a competitor impact others from the distance they do.
What’s your thoughts on the Beaver?
