@tophisopam @CRUK_BI @ribosome_papers As it has been previously established eIF4A1 concentration in cells is far greater than the one of other components of eIF4F complex. This allows for existence of free eIF4A1 (which itself does not bind to the cap) thus allowing for oligomeric conditions to exist in cells.

@ILikeHelicases @CRUK_BI @ribosome_papers As an m7G-capped mRNA is a much better substrate for the eIF4A/4B/4F complex, the latter should outcompete eIF4A oligomers in cell on capped mRNAs, shouldn't it?

Pre-Roe, I was 8 yrs old. I came home from school to find my Mom lying in a puddle of blood. She was weak & asked me to call a neighbor. She was miscarrying, but the embryo would not abort. For 48 hours, she bled while doctors transfused blood, waiting. Abortions were illegal.
