After more than a year of planning and collaboration, pre-hospital blood transfusion is now a reality in Des Moines and West Des Moines! Great support from @IMMC_Trauma with this collaborative effort.

It’s National Rural Health Day! 🚜🏥 Dr. Rick Sidwell jumped on his 1948 John Deere and journeyed to the Iowa State Capitol to meet with @AdamGreggIA to discuss ways to shorten the time it takes to get rural Iowans who suffer from a traumatic injury to a hospital. @IMMC_Trauma

Stop by our booth in the @FarmBureau park at the State Fair today until 3:30. You’ll learn about our injury prevention efforts and how to Stop the Bleed. We will also be here Tuesday and Thursday next week from 0930-3:30. Come learn how to save a life!!

One thing that is being done to help rural facilities is the Rural Trauma Team Development Course. It’s an interactive class that helps to teach more rural facilities on how to care for a trauma patient, work as a team, and transfer if needed #ruraltraumamatters #powerofrural
