The National Milk Testing Strategy (NMTS) was implemented by the USDA following the discovery of H5N1 (avian influenza) in U.S. dairy cattle. The NMTS gives states a five-stage roadmap [aphis.usda.gov/sites/default/…] to prove the elimination of H5N1 from their dairy herds. #milktest
