On 26 March 2009, the naval air station INS Parundu (@IN_Parundu) was commissioned. #ThisDayInIndianNavy Built in 1944 in Ramanathapuram, it later became the Ramnad Civil Aerodrome. The @indiannavy started operations in 1982 to monitor the Palk Strait, renaming it Rajali II (@IN_RAJALI) in 1997. Parundu has served as Forward Operating Base for Operations Flamingo, Pawan and Tasha. The crest has an eagle in flight over Blue and White sea waves against a light blue background.

In a landmark development, #INSParundu inked a two year MoU with Rajans Hospital, Ramanathapuram on 24 March 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare support for service personnel & dependents at Ramnad. The partnership would facilitate seamless access to OPD, advanced diagnostics, inpatient care at CGHS rates, and specialist services across key disciplines including Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics and Urology.

🌦️ World Meteorological Day was commemorated at INS Parundu in alignment with the theme “Observing Today, Protecting Tomorrow.” The occasion featured an essay writing competition, poster making for the ship’s company, and a painting competition for NKG students. As part of #INSPallava Anniversary Celebrations, #INSPallava organised a Blood Donation Camp on 11 Mar 26 in association with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. All service personnel, families, defence civilians and parents of NKG students participated in the camp. The initiative was a great success wherein personnel participated in large number for a noble cause. The initiative highlighted the spirit of community participation and commitment towards this noble cause.

NKG Ramnad celebrated its third Annual Day on 07 Mar 26 with the theme “Spandan – The Rhythm of Young Minds”.
