Street Food vs Packaged Food Is Anything Truly Safe? On one side, we have street food open stalls, visible hygiene issues, and obvious risks. On the other side, packaged food sealed, branded, and marketed as safe. But honestly… is either one fully trustworthy? Street food worries us because we can see the problems. Packaged food worries us because we can’t see what’s inside. One feels risky on the outside. The other feels uncertain on the inside. And as taxpayers, we’re contributing to a system that’s supposed to regulate both. So it’s a fair question if neither feels completely safe, where is the gap? Is it about better enforcement on the streets? Or more transparency inside packaged products? Reservation ka purpose tha women ko decision making mein lana, par jab power kisi aur ke haath mein hi reh jaati hai, toh system bas naam ka badal jaata hai, reality nahi. Yeh sirf governance ka issue nahi hai, yeh taxpayers ke liye bhi concern hai kyunki decisions woh le raha hai jo elected hi nahi hai, accountability zero. Agar seat women ke naam pe hai, toh authority bhi unke paas honi chahiye warna yeh pura concept hi dilute ho jaata hai.

How many of you have heard the terms “sarpanch pati” or “panchayat pati” ? In many places, a Panchayat seat reserved for women ends up being contested by the wife, daughter, sister or daughter in law of a male politician , while real authority continues to be exercised by him. This is why these terms have become so common. The 73rd Constitutional Amendment mandated 33% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions so that women’s voices are part of local governance. Out of roughly 31 lakh elected Panchayat representatives, about one third are women. But when an elected woman representative is only the face while authority is exercised by a male relative, it creates a parallel unelected authority. A form of proxy governance the Constitution never intended. This is exactly why I raised the issue through a supplementary question in Parliament last week. Does the government acknowledge that this practice exists? And what steps are being taken to ensure that women elected to Panchayats exercise real authority, not merely hold the seat in name?

Taping AC vents is not a “solution” it just creates discomfort for everyone else in the compartment. Public spaces need shared responsibility, not personal adjustments at others’ cost. At the same time, setting temperatures too low doesn’t make sense either. Not everyone can tolerate that kind of cold, especially during long journeys. A balanced approach is needed around 23–24°C sounds reasonable for most people. Railways should standardize this instead of leaving it to random adjustments by passengers.
