🟢 Clinical Support in Development As part of #ImmunotherapyAwarenessMonth, we're highlighting ongoing work within the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN) aimed at supporting healthcare professionals managing immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Two new guidance documents are currently in development: 🦠 Antimicrobial prophylaxis for patients receiving immunosuppression Providing practical recommendations to support infection prevention in patients requiring immunosuppressive therapies for the management of immunotherapy toxicities. 🦴 Bone protection guidance for patients receiving steroids in response to immunotherapy toxicities Supporting best practice to reduce the risk of steroid-induced bone loss and associated complications. These projects are being developed through multidisciplinary collaboration and reflect the IOCN's commitment to providing practical, evidence-informed resources to support healthcare professionals and improve patient care. More information will be shared as these projects progress. #ImmunotherapyAwarenessMonth #IOCN #Immunotherapy #ClinicalSupport #PatientSafety #irAEs @AOlssonBrown @RickyFrazer1 @JohnsonA_D @DTM_xx @Nick_G89 @brentocarrigan @will_oncology @Youngdr100 @TrudyGuinan @UKONSmember @BOPACommittee @OncoDailyIO @ACPUK @myESMO @ASCO @oncologyforum @OncologyNT @simplyoncology

🫀 Advancing Cardio-Oncology As part of hashtag#CancerImmunotherapyMonth, we're highlighting the collaborative work of the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN) in improving the recognition and management of immune-related cardiac toxicities. In 2024, the IOCN, in collaboration with the British Cardio-Oncology Society (BCOS), published the Joint Consensus Statement: 📖 Baseline Cardiac Assessment in Individuals Receiving Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors The document provides practical recommendations to support clinicians in implementing baseline cardiac assessment and promoting consistent, evidence-informed practice across the UK. Building on this work, a multidisciplinary working group is currently developing a further consensus statement focused on the management of immune-related cardiac toxicities. 🫀 Expected release: Autumn/Winter 2026 Through continued collaboration between oncology and cardiology specialists, we aim to strengthen patient safety, improve outcomes and support healthcare professionals delivering immunotherapy. Together, we are helping shape the future of cardio-oncology. #ImmunotherapyAwarenessMonth #IOCN #CardioOncology #PatientSafety #Immunotherapy #CancerCare #UKOF26 #BCOS @AOlssonBrown @RickyFrazer1 @JohnsonA_D @DTM_xx @Nick_G89 @brentocarrigan @will_oncology @Youngdr100 @TrudyGuinan @UKONSmember @BOPACommittee @OncoDailyIO @ACPUK @myESMO @ASCO @oncologyforum @OncologyNT @simplyoncology

🟡 Building a National Framework for irAE Management As part of #CancerImmunotherapyMonth, we're highlighting ongoing work being led through the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN). Following concerns regarding inequitable access to immunosuppressive medicines used in the management of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) toxicities, the IOCN and UKSACT Board engaged with NHS England in November 2025 to discuss the challenges faced across the UK. This work led to the establishment of a national multidisciplinary working group tasked with developing a consensus framework for the comprehensive management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs). In May 2026, experts from across the UK came together at the IOCN two-day meeting in London to begin shaping this work through a series of collaborative workshops. Our shared aim is to ensure that patients receive the greatest possible benefit from immunotherapy while reducing the risk of serious toxicity and treatment-related complications through consistent, evidence-informed pathways of care. By working together nationally, we hope to: 🟡 Improve equity of access 🟡 Strengthen patient safety 🟡 Improve patient outcome 🟡 Support healthcare professionals delivering immunotherapy 🟡 Promote consistent, evidence-informed management of irAEs ✍ We are now bringing together the outputs from these workshops to begin developing a proposed consensus framework. Together, we are helping shape the future of immunotherapy toxicity management. #ImmunotherapyAwarenessMonth #IOCN #irAEs #PatientSafety #ImmunoOncology #PolicyAndGovernance #UKOF26 @AOlssonBrown @RickyFrazer1 @JohnsonA_D @DTM_xx @Nick_G89 @brentocarrigan @will_oncology @Youngdr100 @TrudyGuinan @UKONSmember @BOPACommittee @OncoDailyIO @ACPUK @myESMO @ASCO @oncologyforum @OncologyNT @simplyoncology

🤝 Collaboration in Action As part of #CancerImmunotherapyMonth, we're highlighting some of the work delivered through the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN). In collaboration with the BOPA (The British Oncology Pharmacy Association), we have developed a series of second-line agent drug monographs to support healthcare professionals in the prescribing and monitoring of immunosuppressive therapies used in the management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) caused by immune checkpoint inhibitors. 📖 Eleven monographs are now available covering: • Abatacept • Anakinra • Budesonide • Infliximab • Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIg) • Methotrexate • Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) • Rituximab • Tacrolimus • Tocilizumab • Vedolizumab These resources form part of our commitment to supporting healthcare professionals delivering immuno-oncology therapies and improving patient care. 🚨 More monographs will be released in the coming months.
