@zachy_yo It sounds surreal but naira to dollar was between N300 to N470 / dollar In 2020.

@IOlutunmibi What year to what year did you use for naira devaluation?

In a dollar denominated portfolio

So the conclusion is still… have the ₦100M?😏

10-year thought experiment: Nigeria vs S&P 500 🇳🇬🇺🇸
₦1m invested in 5 NGX stocks ten years ago would worth the below values today:
• Presco → ₦55M–₦70M
• Okomu Oil → ₦40M–₦55M
• MTN → ₦2.5M–₦3.5M
• GTCO → ₦6M–₦10M
• Dangote Cement → ₦15M–₦25M
₦300/$ in 2016 = $3,333 → ₦1m
Same $3,333 in S&P 500 → ~$9,400–$10,200 today.
At ₦1,400/$ today → ₦13.1m+
This is me pondering about my exposure to the US market and trying to figure out a better route to take; individual stocks or to heavily move into the S&P 500!!!

@hunchohumor For a “learned” investor, they know that (yields - inflation) is alpha. In this case, 19%-16%.
Abi are things not getting more expensive as time goes by??

English

Once you cross ₦20m, you already have a real chance of becoming wealthy with time and discipline.
Imagine putting ₦20m in a money market fund like Coronation MMF with yields around 19% annually.
In 10 years, that could grow to roughly ₦114m without adding a single naira.
Compounding works best when you give it time to do its thing.
People will mention inflation, but ask yourself:
Would you rather have ₦114m in 10 years or ₦0?
The choice is yours.
Hold the line.

@Markponit @degenBRO__ Most people don’t know this you can do investment immigration. i.e owning a property in a place like grenada. And you have their passport which gives you visa free access to over 140+ countries.
English

@degenBRO__ is it about the money you'd make or standard of living and security?
personally I'd still japa even if I have 100m
