Oct 2024 – March 2026 (Interim Rule) Buyback amount = Dividend माना गया Tax = आपकी income tax slab के हिसाब से (up to 30%+) � Cost of share = capital loss (separate) 👉 Result: High tax (especially HNI/30% slab) Buyback unattractive हो गया 🚀 3. NEW RULE (From 1 April 2026) – IMPORTANT अब सरकार ने फिर से system बदल दिया 👇 ✅ Buyback = Capital Gain माना जाएगा 👉 Dividend नहीं 📊 Tax कैसे लगेगा: Profit = Buyback Price – Purchase Price उसी पर tax लगेगा � 📈 Capital Gain Tax Rates (Buyback पर) 🔹 Long Term (12 महीने से ज्यादा hold) Tax: 12.5% Exemption: ₹1.25 लाख तक � 🔹 Short Term (12 महीने से कम hold) Tax: 20% � ⚠️ Promoters के लिए अलग rule Higher tax burden (approx 22%–30%) � Extra surcharge भी लग सकता है � 📊 Simple Example मान लीजिए: आपने share खरीदा = ₹100 Buyback price = ₹150 👉 Profit = ₹50 अब: अगर 1 साल से ज्यादा hold → 12.5% tax = ₹6.25 अगर 1 साल से कम → 20% tax = ₹10 🎯 Final Impact (Investor के लिए) ✔️ अब सिर्फ profit पर tax (पहले पूरे amount पर था) ✔️ Buyback फिर से attractive बन गया ✔️ Tax planning आसान हो गई ✔️ Dividend vs Buyback का gap कम हुआ
