@Weasel9100 First - She’s dominican, not Puerto Rican. AOCs & Nydia’s positions are consistent with leftist movements on the island. Your position is consistent with the right-wingers on the island who want to be cucks to America and allow the island to become Hawaii. Stick to US politics

DAC L but unfortunately a position quite common among Puerto Rican diaspora in the NYC area. Both AOC and Velasquez had this problem as well IIRC
Drop Site@DropSiteNews

🇵🇷 “For 128 years of U.S. rule, Puerto Rico has been a colony” Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic nominee for Congress in New York’s 13th District, marked the 128th anniversary of the July 25, 1898 U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico by calling for an end to American colonial rule and declaring her support for the island’s independence. U.S. troops landed at Guánica during the Spanish-American War, and Spain ceded the island under the Treaty of Paris without any input from Puerto Ricans. In 1900 the Foraker Act established that Puerto Rico “belongs to the United States, but is not the United States, nor a part of the United States,” a formula that has defined its status ever since. Congress imposed U.S. citizenship in 1917, months before Puerto Ricans were drafted into World War I, yet residents still cannot vote for president and have no voting representation in Congress. Avila Chevalier pointed to widespread poverty, recurring blackouts, the federal response to Hurricane Maria and the unelected fiscal oversight board known as La Junta, which was imposed by Congress in 2016 to restructure the island’s debt and holds power over its budget above the elected government. “I also support independence for the Puerto Rican people,” she said. “Because after 128 years, it’s the least the people on the island deserve.” 🎥 @DarializaforNY (via Instagram)

@RichStapless The Luka ya so eagerly discarded Bron for hasnt been healthy in LAs jersey, played like 🐶💩 the 1 playoff he did play in, is a depreciating asset leading a team w/ 0 dogs & a FO under fed investigation. Dark times ahead for LA, ironic given the lack of melanin on the squad lol

@RichStapless The way you all collectively discarded Bron when Luka fell in your laps is why the FC is saying y’all didn’t appreciate him. Jeanie & Rob leaks didn’t help. Convos with Luka’s team not including Bron, Jeanie talking bad about Bron to media in book leaks. Just nasty all around.

The discourse about whether or not LeBron was “appreciated” in LA is very exhausting. You guys need to understand this app isn’t the real world. It’s filled with trolls and attention-seeking grifters. I believe he was very much appreciated by the majority of LA fans. Are there a minority who probably wish he never chose LA because of the whole Kobe/Bron debates? Maybe. But there also Heat fans that’s been beefing with him since we left and Cavs fans who are upset Bron keeps spurning them. They’re not the majority. But real LA fans appreciated that he came to a franchise that was floundering, delivered a title, and kept them afloat for nearly a decade. And if it’s a matter of him not being treated like Kobe, we’re talking a guy who built 20 years of equity and five banners. For someone who’s Laker career started at 34, that was always an impossible benchmark. But he was still great in his own way. If I’m wrong, so be it.

@IPolitivist @brent858 Lol the entire point of the person you responded to was that she wasn't actually part of the DSA. You just didn't understand (because of how stupid you are) so I reiterated it.

@LeftyWinter @ValforNevada Proud of you for that. If it isn’t NYC-DSA, it’s not worth joining. Bunch of weirdos harping online about how insufficient AOC is when she’s a key reason for the orgs growth since 2018 and those respective chapters have no major wins on the board to show for their piety.

@brent858 DSA left is inherently repulsive with its public posture. Whether you like it or not, AOC has been the primary gateway to socialism for dems over the past 8 yrs. So, it’s no far fetched concept why NYT would engage w/ folks who left the org bc of its public aoc derangement

@brent858 Thats who they should be speaking to. Folks who thought DSA was a political home, only to find out that the most prominent DSA-related politician who introduced them to socialism was despised by a vocal minority with large twitter followings, leading them to leave the org.

@trash_panda97 You want your politics to appeal to the masses, without appreciating or understanding the logic of the mass you’re trying to appeal too. This - in a nutshell - explains why “DSA Left” has ambitions grandeur than its capacity. You don’t even know/understand how normies think. Cuck

i don’t get people who think this is a good answer lol. sorry but i want my socialist standard bearer to defend socialism & DSA when asked and to position themselves as a part of that same movement, not just be like “who cares, they can do what they want”
Acyn@Acyn

Reporter: One of your colleagues says the DSA is a communist organization… AOC: I just don’t care. I think these folks call everyone they don’t like a communist. People can do what they want. I’m not here to be the belief police.

@cbouzy “Leeching off of our infrastructure & resources” maaaaan STFU. The Democratic Party infrastructure and resources you speak of are corporate pacs and Israel dick riders - both of which progressive and socialist candidates don’t use or accept. We win bc the people are on our side.

@RichStapless The org pushed him out, that much is clear. Once Luka fell in their lap, they made it apparent they had no desire for Bron on the team. Then you had book leaks about Jeanie’s feelings toward Bron, Pelinkas meetings w/ Luka’s team not including Bron, etc. The rest is history.

It’s so funny because a player like Bron actually would probably take LA over the top because we addressed the center and the wing positions 😂😂

@Sarah_pdx Sincerely—why does DSA left think they’re more appealing to the masses than one of the more well-liked politicians, whose made socialism more palatable to the country? Mayor Zohran doesn’t happen without AOC being the face of NYC/Dem politics for the past 8 years. Astounding.

The DSA “right” is already moving on AOC at a chapter level. The left need an answer. Sitting out, or hoping for someone else to run, is no positive vision. If we unify now we can fight for a critical campaign that grows DSA *while* clearly distinguishing our program and politics

@Sarah_pdx That u guys are publicly handwringing this much abt backing 1 of the most liked politicians in US politics, someone who made socialism more palatable across the Dem electorate in her 8 yrs in the limelight, is mind boggling. Why would any1 want to be in coalition w/ the DSA left?

The central dynamics I see with a prospective AOC campaign are 1. her election would be a step forward and a campaign will galvanize millions of people that can either be won to our politics or lost 2. We would be making a mistake to assume her politics are the same as ours.
