@CyberTheCyFan If Tech cared, they would have done a medical redshirt for him this year while he worked on his addiction. I doubt the process for kicking a sports wagering addiction includes immersing yourself in sports every day

The NCAA literally told Texas Tech Sorsby was ineligible, and then Tech said he should only serve a 2 game suspension. If Tech really wasn’t going to play him, they would’ve recommended a year-long suspension. But they didn’t, because they want to play him. Simple as that
Flatland Sports🌵♠️@flatland_sports

Texas Tech had done nothing but follow the established rules and has been crucified by the rest of the league. Sorsby hasn't played a single game at Texas Tech and if a legitimate authority declares Sorsby ineligible, I guarantee Texas Tech won't play him.

@jeffp1022 @CyGradCyDad I am sure it is a combination of several factors, obesity included. Some will blame glyphosate as well. Have seen other reports trying to link the increase to alcohol consumption. Seems we just really have no idea

@ISUAgStud @CyGradCyDad Of course we are in the top 10 for obesity as well… I’m sure it couldn’t have anything to do with that either

@CyGradCyDad @jeffp1022 Just trying to look at the few widespread changes around the state over the last 20 years that could cause an unknown issue. Windmills, while likely not a concern, are one of the few widespread changes that I could think of.

@CyGradCyDad @jeffp1022 Blame can only be assigned if we know what exactly is causing it and what actions are leading to it. As of now, no one knows and has cared enough to focus on figuring it out that I can tell. Is it nitrates? Is it radon? Is it windmills? What is leading to the increase?

I know comprehension is hard. He’s talking about cancer rates in Iowa. He’s advocating that a candidate from a party can solve. The same party who has been in power the last 12 years while the cancer rate has risen. So if a candidate can solve it, well then you can deduce to blame for it.

@martysolefty @incoherent_rage Why? Does the Masters mean the person is a hard worker, personable, has common sense, has skills valuable to society, shows up on time, etc? Or does it just mean they went into a lot of debt for a piece of paper? Degrees don't equal guaranteed success.

@SenSanders So you will also be lifting the cap on benefit the to match the increased tax? Or you just want to take more from the wealthy and still cap the eventual benefit?

Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.

Front month corn is approaching 2025 Harvest lows price. It’s also trading 40 cents under 2025 and 2024 on this date. Keep pushing the balloon underwater. There is no risk! Demand is robust. Cash is firming. Risk free seasonal that’s moved a month early.

@jdunwell Iowa Republicans are raiding the savings cookie jar to fund the gap between current tax revenues and current spending. The reckoning is coming soon. Kansas redux. Same Republican con.

Rob Sand says Iowa’s budget is a mess. Let’s look at the facts. When Republicans took the majority, Iowa’s top income tax rate was 8.98%. It’s now 3.8% — flat — one of the lowest in the nation. That’s not reckless spending. That’s returning money to Iowans who were being overtaxed. Yes, revenue is down — by design. The Taxpayer Relief Fund was built specifically to bridge this transition. Iowa ended FY2024 with $2 billion in the General Fund, $961 million in reserves, and $3.75 billion in the Taxpayer Relief Fund. We’re managing spending under 2% growth while the economy catches up to the cuts — exactly as planned. Rob Sand is the State Auditor. He knows this. Calling a planned surplus drawdown a “fiscal time bomb” isn’t accountability. It’s politics.
Rob Sand@RobSandIA

Our budget is a mess. My opponent has no plan to fix it. My plan: No more reckless spending. It's time to stop the give aways to insiders & start investing in Iowa's future. bit.ly/4oiAZ2J

Texas Tech can and should do all the things it is doing to support Brendan Sorsby's recovery — but I don't see why he HAS to play football games. He can be in a structured environment, be at practice, & be around supportive teammates all without playing on Saturdays.

How do Texas Tech players (and maybe some coaches) actually feel about the Brendan Sorsby situation? Are they really on board with all this? "If it helps us win big, it's worth the risk" kind of thing?

NEW: Texas Tech's Joey McGuire says Brendan Sorsby returning for Week 3 against Houston after his suspension is a "stretch": "He’s recovering from an addiction. I’ve sat down with this young man multiple times and what he’s going through and what he's been through is serious." (h/t @ChrisGordy) on3.com/news/joey-mcgu…

You have 5 more commits than Iowa and are 11 spots below them in team rankings. That’s not good. I advise you to look at the offer lists of these kids. Also, not good.

@sammmidd Yep, 2 4 stars and 10 3 stars. Absolutely awful. Especially when compared to Iowa’s haul of 2 4 stars and 10 3 stars
