The big national chain theatre in town didn’t get much better rates from what I heard from friends and excolleagues. But again may just be the state I live in. But that’s why I question sources but I could be wrong

The manager of our chain said that out of $8.75 we charged per ticket we got $0.25 of that $8.75. But if someone bought a kids ticket for $8.00 we lost -$0.50 because we had to pay 8.50 to studio

@ISULamb0 @gaston_pd @CultureCrave @ajwweir @Clayreels As said, both can be true. A movie theater could keep 4 bucks on a 10 dollar-ticket and lose those 4 dollars on its operating costs (rent, electricity) so it has to make its money on concessions.

@itsliafen @gaston_pd @CultureCrave @ajwweir @Clayreels I also had friends and co workers that would work at the all the movie theaters in the area and they said it was the same for their theatre. Idk what the source of the article is for these numbers but in my area it is far from accurate.

He talked number with me because I was a numbers guy and said they lose money on tickets and pay the studios to keep competitive pricing.

@gaston_pd @CultureCrave @ajwweir @Clayreels No. Roughly half of that goes to theatres etc - if your movie’s budget was $220M, the general rule of thumb is that you’d need to make it to $440M to break even. And that does not include marketing costs at all which could be another +$50-80M before you make a single dollar
