1/ 🧵A thread on the complex symbolism of hijab/burqa of muslim women. The hijab has sparked debates globally, from protests in Iran to restrictions in France. In this thread lets look at how the burqa's symbolism evolved dramatically during the Algerian War of Independence

This is this clown’s only comeback. Anytime you disagree with him on ANYTHING, he insists you say the words “Antizionist, genocide, or AIPAC.” It’s the leftist version of Beetlejuice.

It is not the Arsenal fans but the media that drives the Emery vs. Arteta comparisons whenever Unai does well. Arsenal fans are just keeping that same energy when he doesn’t. You can’t have it both ways. 😤
Dougie Critchley@DougieCritchley

I see a lot of negativity from Arsenal fans towards Unai Emery, and to be honest I think it's a bit strange. No one will pretend that Unai Emery worked out at Arsenal. He took over a club that was drifting on and off the pitch, immediately after the departure of a club legend. The mood around the club had been negative for a number of years. The recruitment had not been up to scratch. It wasn't a happy 18 months. He then went to Villarreal, won a Europa League title, the club's first major honours and backed that up by reaching the Champions League semi-finals the year after. At Villa he took over a squad that sat 13th, 4 points clear of relegation and has finished 7th, 4th, 6th and currently has them 5th. For a manager supposedly "incapable of balancing Europe with the Premier League," he's reached the Conference League semi-finals, Champions League quarter-finals and this year the Europa League semi-finals. A level of League consistency we haven't seen from Big 6 clubs like Man United, Spurs and Chelsea in recent years, whilst balancing Europe. He's clearly an incredibly talented manager. The Arsenal fans that are blaming Emery for rotating, (no doubt motivated by the fact Spurs won comfortably) when they still have a chance of winning a first trophy in 30 years... Just come across as weirdly petty. It'll be 7 years this November that Emery left Arsenal, their fans that are still looking to looking to downplay his achievements, need to move on!

@DougieCritchley The larger disagreement here seems to be on how we are defining quality. Is a footballer only going to be judged by his technical attacking quality? Is his physicality, tactical understanding and discipline, and even something like defending are not metrics to consider?

I see the debate about PSG and freshness rumbles on... As I said originally, tiredness from Premier League players who play in a very physically demanding league, with greater depth of competition (due to a massive financial advantage), in 4 competitions... is a factor against the rest of Europe. But to put it down as the CRUCIAL factor, in my opinion overlooks the fact that the quality of Bayern and PSG players, is just higher. And on the freshness point... PSG played 65 games last season (compared to 58 for Arsenal). The gap between the Club World Cup final and the start of Ligue 1 was 35 days. They have played 50 games this season and you can tell... Games missed with injury all competitions (+Ligue 1 games on bench) Fabian Ruiz: 25 (0) Ousmane Dembele: 19 (1) Doue: 18 (1) Hakimi: 17 (1) Joao Neves: 13 (2) That's 5 pretty crucial players, having injury-ridden campaigns. They aren't being rested, they aren't on a 9 month holiday domestically, they aren't available for selection. For Premier League fans to complain about freshness given the MASSIVE financial advantage they have over the rest of Europe doesn't sit right with me. Especially given the lack of minutes Arteta (and you can use examples for many Premier League managers) has given to Lewis-Skelly, Norgaard, Nwaneri, amongst others, this season! Luis Enrique should be applauded for utilising his squad to set-up their spring assault, PEAKING at the right time of the season, April and May!

@atulkasbekar @SonyLIV I remember the old days when ESPN StarSports had the UCL license in India. The match shows were so good I used o look forward to them. Ten Sports buying it ruined it first. Maybe its nostalgia but I feel even the commentary and broadcast quality was much better those days.

Do we need to have this local game analysis during the championship league in the @SonyLIV feed? Would it cost too much to license the CBS one wt Henry/Carragher/ Richards? Can’t be more than the cost of the dinky set n production? Or then none at all Commercials n reruns better any day than the asinine drivel we get subjected to Last night was actually the last straw snap for me

You have a point, but I also think it would’ve been too obvious to just push him aside purely because of those comments. It likely wasn’t the only reason, more like a triggering point on top of other factors. At the same time, the fact we’ve seen other situations at the club that point towards a certain level of repression, like what happened with the former kitman, definitely gives that argument more weight.

Mesut Özil confirms what many suspected about how things ended at Arsenal FC: “As a star, I had a voice, and I knew I had to speak out on certain things. If I posted, I knew I would get in trouble with Arsenal. But I didn't care, I posted it and I was happy. So they closed the door on me. They didn't let me play anymore.” “It was difficult, because I was enjoying playing football and they just took it away from me. I thank God that I had my wife and kids with me.”

Location: Dhandhuka, Ahmedabad, Gujarat "We'll earn and send money so the kids can study. Now what should we do? We thought we'd just commit suicide." Mohammad Sabir, who came from Bihar, had set up a puncture shop on loan. Extremist mob set his shop on fire, causing him a loss of 5-5.5 lakh rupees. He had closed his shop and was standing far away watching—they would have killed me too. He was hiding, and they set fire to the shop right in front of his eyes. He didn't have the courage to come out and speak. Why did they set fire to my shop? What harm did I do to anyone? There were 15-20 of them.

The bigger question is hard to ignore: did these nine undercover officers, reportedly inside TCS for 40 days, not even know the difference between an HR manager and a telecaller? What exactly were they doing all that time? If this basic lapse is true, then serious action must follow. Those responsible should be held accountable, including removal from service if negligence is established. Before anything else, accountability must begin there. Who allowed this misinformation to spread and why? Increasingly, this appears less like a flawed investigation and more like a fully scripted narrative, one that seems to have been amplified and possibly pushed with a political motive. When facts are this blurred at the source, what follows cannot be called an investigation. It becomes a cascade of assumptions, amplified without verification.
Ravi Prakash Official@raviprakash_rtv

If you are following the TCS Nashik controversy, pause for a moment. A 26-year-old pregnant woman, Nida Khan, was turned into the face of a national outrage within hours. Called a “mastermind.” Some branded her terrorist, absconding. Projected as an “HR head.” Dragged into wild conspiracy theories. Now reports suggest she wasn’t even in HR, wasn’t absconding, and hadn’t worked in the Nashik office for months. So what was this? An investigation… or a full-blown media trial? A workplace complaint became “Corporate Jihad.” Rumours became headlines. And a woman’s life became collateral damage. If she is guilty, let the law punish her. But if she is not -who takes responsibility for this public lynching? This is not journalism. This is narrative manufacturing. @TCS @nashikpolice @DGPMaharashtra @NCWIndia @PressCouncil_IN @MIB_India

The draft of the Delimitation Bill, 2026, that is now available in the public domain seems to suggest that the BJP-led Union Government is keen on proceeding with a delimitation exercise without accounting for the current proportional share of the States', vis a vis their representation in the Lok Sabha. Such an exercise would be highly unjust, as it would penalise those very States - including Kerala - which took conscious efforts to sincerely implement the National Population Policy, 1976. On the other hand, States that lagged behind in population control measures would be seemingly rewarded for their ineffective implementation. Federalism has been recognised as an inalienable part of the basic structure of our Constitution and in a federal democracy, the raison d'être for representation cannot be mere numbers. There has to be an inclusive approach by taking into account the sentiments of all those who would be impacted by the proposed delimitation exercise, especially the States. A consensual approach in this matter is absolutely essential. The present attempt to increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha, through an amendment proposed to be brought about in a haste will undoubtedly destroy the spirit of consensus, which was the corner stone of our Constitution making. To rush through with the delimitation amendment, in the garb on implementing women's reservation is nothing but a ploy to mask the real objectives behind this entire exercise. The fact that it is being taken up when the election process to four State assemblies and one Union Territory is yet to be completed has raised genuine suspicions about the political considerations behind it. Considering these strong grounds, it is imperative that the present Delimitation Bill which is sought to be taken up without fair amount of discussions be dropped forthwith. At the same time, women's reservation in the Parliament and the Legislative Assemblies can be and should be implemented right away, without any linkages to delimitation or census. #Delimitation
