@winstonpeters It's fucking obscene, it's treason. Sold to the lowest bidder, allowing us to be cucked in a few years while allowing a tsunami of street shitters into our lands. This will not end well.

Why is the media not asking the most basic of questions to both National and Labour about what the Indian government have just said themselves about what the FTA means. Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Goyal: “The fact that in New Zealand there is an accruing Indian diaspora currently at about 360k expected to cross 400k Indians very soon…more and more of our students going there because of a shortage of people…” With all of these increasing number of visa holders able to bring in family members and ‘more and more’ students having a guaranteed ability to work during study and post study, these are the kiwi jobs being taken off desperate kiwis. Indian Prime Minister Modi: “The investment commitment of $20 billion by New Zealand will further strengthen our cooperation in agriculture, manufacturing, innovation and technology…” Indian government Press Information Bureau: “A Rebalancing Clause is incorporated into the Agreement to provide a framework for addressing any shortfall in investment delivery, thereby ensuring robust and tangible economic outcomes.” The fact that the Indian government themselves are highlighting the INVESTMENT COMMITMENT then in the same breath outline the CLAWBACK clause if we don’t deliver USD$20 billion in just 15 years, highlights the absolute danger and inconsistency with which both National and Labour have signed our country’s future away.

We’ve just signed the New Zealand-India Free Trade Agreement. This means more jobs on farms and orchards, more money coming into local communities, and more opportunities for Kiwis to get ahead.

Today, we mark a historic milestone in the relationship between India and New Zealand: the signing of our Free Trade Agreement.   It was only 13 months ago that I travelled to India to meet with Prime Minister Modi and launch Free Trade Agreement negotiations. India is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies, but our trade relationship has only begun to scratch the surface of its potential. Prime Minister Modi and I could see that an FTA would be a massive opportunity for both our two countries.   Since my visit last March, Ministers Piyush Goyal and Todd McClay, and their officials, have worked tirelessly to negotiate a deal. The outcome of that hard work is a deal that delivers for India and for New Zealand. My congratulations to Minister Goyal, Minister McClay and all the negotiators who made this possible.   For New Zealand, this FTA opens the door to one of the world’s most dynamic markets and creates unprecedented opportunities to trade, invest, innovate and connect. This deal will help diversify New Zealand’s export markets, support the goal of doubling the value of our exports over 10 years, and put New Zealand exporters on a more level playing field with competitors already enjoying preferential access in India.   For India, this deal means growth, innovation and new opportunities. It gives Indian exporters tariff-free access to the New Zealand market from day one, and it gives Indian consumers improved access to our high-quality exports. It creates new ways for India to partner with New Zealand on agricultural productivity and benefit from New Zealand’s world-leading agri-tech and food-production expertise.   This agreement matters not just because of what it does economically, but because of what it says strategically. At a time of global uncertainty, this FTA is a clear commitment by both sides to stable, predictable, and rules-based trade.   And the India-New Zealand story is about more than trade. New Zealand and India are building a relationship that is bigger, deeper and more exciting every year – across trade, investment, defence, sport, and innovation.   New Zealand’s vibrant Indian diaspora is central to the strong relationship between our two countries. In Prime Minister Modi’s words, the diaspora is a “living bridge” between New Zealand and India. The contribution of the Indian community to New Zealand is immense: in business, in science, in education, in health, in the arts, in sport, and in communities right across the country.   While today is a big milestone, it is also just the beginning. We are excited about the next chapter in India-New Zealand relations.

Just over a year ago, I met with Prime Minister Modi in India. We agreed then, that we’d launch negotiations on a free trade agreement. For decades, many people said it couldn’t be done. But tonight, that deal gets signed. This is a once-in-a-generation agreement that gives NZ exporters unprecedented access to 1.4 billion people and an economy set to become the third-largest in the world.  It means more jobs on farms and orchards, it means more money coming into local communities, and it means more opportunities for your family to get ahead.

Today the India FTA is signed. It will then go back to Parliament to pass into law. Unfortunately only NZFirst oppose this awful deal, so it’s likely to go ahead. In the last few years we have seen masses of industry close. A large part of this is our high electricity prices, partly because of the green scam, but also because we have a sector that the electricity & generators and sellers are one and the same meaning they can manipulate the prices for maximum return. Timber and paper mills have gone to the wall, WP & Shane Jones went to Cabinet to get government to help, however Act and National wouldn’t support it. Watties will close at the same time tariffs for all processed and frozen foods from India will be dropped. Our vegetable market is worth 1.1 Billion a year. That’s worth more than what the India FTA deal is expected to add to our economy. 90% of the veges kiwis consume are grown here. This is about to change. We will start eating a lot more food processed in India and other third world developing nations. Highly productive farm land around NZ is being turned into tickey tacky subdivisions favoured by new immigrants. National is devoted to net zero, and Luxon this week celebrated that our emissions have been the lowest on record, that’s even lower than during lockdown. Last year for the first time in NZ history residential users consumed more electricity than industry. NZ industry is dying and National, Act and Labour are all for it. Once this deal is signed not only will we see an uptick of Indian migrants, but also an exodus of NZ manufacturers to India. As part of the FTA agreement and the 35billion NZ investment into India that it commits us to, the NZ govt has now openly encourage NZ business to offshore to India and to hire Indian staff. What is going to be left for the young people? my.nzte.govt.nz/article/202512…
