Doctor, while I won’t question your intelligence here, it’s important to remember that prayer has a profound place in our faith, often achieving results that seem impossible by human standards. Take, for example, Elijah’s prayer in 1 Kings 17:1 and 1 Kings 18:41-45, where he prayed for a drought that lasted three years, and then prayed again for rain to return. That was a direct intervention through prayer on something as impactful as weather patterns. Similarly, in James 5:17-18, it’s emphasized that ‘Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.’ If prayer could influence natural events, what then is the foreign exchange rate in the sight of God? If Pastor Adeboye said prayer held the naira from rising to 10,000, then as believers, why doubt it? Sometimes things are beyond the physical realm and beyond what we can explain with economics or science. So, what’s the real issue with trusting in the power of prayer?

We couldn’t use prayer to hold the dollar at 150naira. We couldn’t use prayer to stop it from getting to 1,700 naira. We couldn’t use prayer to actually stop it getting worse. But we are using prayer to stop it from getting to 10,000naira. This is not christianity. This is actually madness. If nobody will say it, I will say it.
