@JimSpenceDundee Resources etc but a fair point. NE Tory politicians have been politicising this all day though. That they are both tossers is a purely personal opinion 😉

Mainstream journalists can't complain about a Social media Wild West when they're prepared to distort facts to suit an activist agenda. There's frankly no difference between a punter with an X account and a 'journalist' either not performing the basic fact checks, or worse, manipulating the facts to suit their own agenda.
@GinaDavidson@ginadavidsonlbc

Sorry but the UKG hasn't "failed" to provide anything. The fires are really the last thing to get political about. There is no water-carrying aerial support in the MoD locker - SG knew this when it made the request as the SFRS had told them so. AFAIK the ask was to confirm that.

@Neilsocialist Disgraceful Party. You do realise there are many reasons why so many people won’t vote for your bunch of charlatans in Scotland again. Your constant lying and blocking of a democratic path to Independence might be a clue.

@NeilDrysdale Get where you’re coming from, but I enjoyed it. The dark arts vs the beautiful game. Glad the latter one.

Argentina’s behaviour has been a bloody disgrace tonight. They were down to 10, it should have been nine, and could have been seven or eight if the officials had done their job. It is a victory for Spain and for football, but what a manky affair!

Thank heavens. It’s taken them long enough, but only one of these teams is trying to win this match and they’ve just scored. Now, let’s see an ending like the 1982 Scottish Cup final. (If you know, you know)!

EXC: New poll shows an independent Scottish Labour party could receive vote boost from SNP and Green voters. The poll was commissioned by the Just for Scotland pressure group. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

UEFA could always just tell Infantino they’re leaving FIFA and creating their own organisation. He couldn’t survive without the European nations. Will the SFA join a campaign which the Germans and Spanish have already joined? It shouldn’t be that difficult.

🧵I am an England fan but have lived in Scotland for almost a decade now. I feel deeply sorry for England fans who are for some reason offended by Scots not backing Thomas Tuchel's team tonight. Please, dry your eyes, and grow up. Here's why I say this...

Sadly centralisation is king Dave. You’ve only to look at the paltry numbers employed by BBC Scotland outside of their Glasgow HQ, and the effective death of the old Grampian aka STV North, and Radio Tay here, to see how the media winds have blown.
Dave Scott@DaveScott1977

One of the sad things travelling across Scotland in car these days is decline/death throes of local radio. Switch it on in the North to some generic weegie trying to sound like they have an exciting life. 🥱

A fun start to the day with my friend Sonia. I’m ending the day with my friend Biggins. In between I’ve been to Christchurch to meet one of my (and the nation’s) true sporting heroes … watch this space!

In the @Specator, I've written about the contrast between the ugly image of America created by the sneering, European Left and the beautiful reality that confronted the Tartan Army -- and fans of other European teams -- when they set foot in the United States. "This was a very different America to the caricature those fans would have been told about by the Trump-hating anti-capitalists who’ve been running Scotland (into the ground) for the past 19 years. Scotland has the most draconian hate speech laws in Europe, having passed the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act in 2021. Yet in Boston, these Scots discovered that living in a country that celebrates the free enterprise system, complete with the First Amendment, isn’t such a nightmare after all. Let’s hope they return to their home country determined to get rid of the tin-pot dictators who’ve been trying to turn the birthplace of the Enlightenment into the North Korea of the North Sea." spectator.com/article/the-wo…

All the commentators are doing their best to ignore the fact that Serena Williams can barely move more than a yard on either side of her. I’m still not sure why she decided to play singles again. She has nothing to prove to anybody!

I covered Serena Williams winning her first Wimbledon singles title in 2002 for “Scotland on Sunday” and it was a fabulous occasion. But that was almost a quarter of a century ago. Time waits for nobody in sport or in life!
