Mainstream journalists can't complain about a Social media Wild West when they're prepared to distort facts to suit an activist agenda. There's frankly no difference between a punter with an X account and a 'journalist' either not performing the basic fact checks, or worse, manipulating the facts to suit their own agenda.

All the commentators are doing their best to ignore the fact that Serena Williams can barely move more than a yard on either side of her. I’m still not sure why she decided to play singles again. She has nothing to prove to anybody!

I covered Serena Williams winning her first Wimbledon singles title in 2002 for “Scotland on Sunday” and it was a fabulous occasion. But that was almost a quarter of a century ago. Time waits for nobody in sport or in life!
