Surprisingly, Hockey Canada has denied exceptional status to American-born Kade O’Rourke. The 6’1, 180lb defenceman was the projected first overall pick in the upcoming OHL draft. The Oshawa Generals hold that pick.

@JFreshHockey yeah the pro scouting has been an obvious problem but the other problem was 5 on 5 scoring, which Yzerman did not solve in any way possible I give him some leeway since he started with literally nothing in 2019 but cmon, man

obviously none of you care about my take here but I don't get this. the expectation for this roster entering the season was 85 points. at the Olympic break they were 23rd in 5v5 goal and xgoal share. the help at the deadline was trading a 1st to build a crummy second pair

People are blaming Yzerman when the team he built this year was genuinely decent, and they earned their place at the Olympic break. Then he gave them some help at the deadline. But the game is played on the ice and the players themselves blew it

The only Ken holland picks left on this team: Larkin, Rasmussen. 1st round picks that didn’t pan out: - Svechnikov - Cholowski - Rasmussen - Zadina What was yzerman left with? - Larkin -Mantha - Bertuzzi - Hronek - Shells of former semi decent players So yes, it might take time to rebuild an organization that had 95% nothing going for them until Yzerman came in and unfortunately never once was able to make a top 3 pick in the draft and never once moved up in the draft. Say what you will about his free agent signings, but he has done everything he promised Detroit Red Wings fans when he first arrived as the General Manager 🐙 #LGRW #RedWings
