War is raging across the world sending shockwaves that hit the living standards of our constituents.
Yet the Tories have us spending 11 hours in the HoC debating process and minutae that does nothing to reflect the priorities of the British people in these times of crisis.

@AVFC_Connor_ Emery probably best - though there’s an argument for Ron or John Gregory. Not O’Neil - bottler. Difficult to compare different generations but Hitchens, Little, Cowans and Platt must be in with a shout.
English

@Ed_Miliband Setting the ‘green energy’ debate aside - surely it would make sense to extract oil/gas from the U.K. North Sea and raise £billions in tax for welfare, defence etc rather than to raise taxes to buy the same stuff off Norway.
English

@AlastairMorgan Yes - and they were. I remember saying when Starmer was hounding Johnson “You’d better be squeaky clean or this will come back to bite you”. He wasn’t and it has.
English

@Keir_Starmer As you took credit for the opening will you now be taking responsibility for it being closed again?
English

It’s good news that the Strait of Hormuz has now reopened.
This must be a long lasting and workable solution, without tolls or restrictions on routes.
Today we announced our joint plan with France and other international partners to protect freedom of navigation.
We need to see a return to peace and stability, and a permanent ceasefire.
English

@Keir_Starmer Your focus is, and always will be, on trying to get re-elected.
English

@ember_energy That’s really great news! Just one thing -why is the price of fuel through the roof and we have the highest energy bills of any G20country?
English

Britain is now better insulated from gas price shocks than it was during the 2021–2023 energy crisis thanks to a buildout of solar and wind – which helped cut gas generation 🧵

@Kate_Dearden Enforced pay rises with no increase in productivity = business closures = more unemployment. This is basic stuff.
English

@JoStevensLabour @UKLabour Have you noticed? Your policies are jacking up wages whilst doing nothing about productivity so businesses close or employ fewer people and unemployment rises.
English

This @UKLabour Government promised to #MakeWorkPay and we’re delivering.
TODAY, millions of workers will receive a pay rise as we boost the National Minimum and Living Wages.
We’re putting more money into people’s pockets. This is fairness you feel.
English

@AnnelieseDodds Is any of this coming from the government’s “laser-like focus” on growth? No - it’s all taxpayer bungs which will further slow economic growth.
English

@KeithGray2020 @Jimrennie58 What? That they’re led by ridiculous people?
English

Gordon Brown got bullied and ridiculed.
Ed Milliband got bullied and ridiculed.
Jeremy Corbyn got bullied and ridiculed.
Sir Keir Starmer is getting bullied and ridiculed.
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm seeing a pattern. 🤔

@AnnelieseDodds Nandy’s been banging on about the £35m bung to keep snooker in Sheffield, you’re tweeting about banning blokes on horses - have you lot been sent out to scrape the barrel? Is this the best you can come up with?
English

Promise made, promise kept.
Labour will ban trail hunting as promised in our manifesto.
Respond to the consultation on how to implement the ban at consult.defra.gov.uk/defra/trail-hu…

English

@lisanandy Parody account? Country’s gone to ratshit, high inflation, sectarian intolerance, boats flooding in, PM despised at home & ignored abroad but….Hey! the govt has given a £35m bung to keep snooker in Sheffield.
English

This is the difference a Labour Government makes 🌹

The World Snooker Championships are staying in Sheffield! This week we announced £35m of local & national Government investment in the Crucible not only securing the future of the Snooker World Championship until 2045 but supporting the largest producing theatre outside London.

@RachelReevesMP I didn’t study economics beyond A Level - but none of what you say makes sense. You can’t ‘believe’ in procurement ; what on earth is “securonomics”? These are just words you’ve picked up from listening to clever people.
English

I’ve long believed in the power of procurement.
It can strengthen Britain's critical industrial resilience as part of what I call 'securonomics'.
And applying a new 'public interest test' for contracting decisions will strengthen our public services.
