@sid_lambert I also vividly remember the conversation about his name. “What does it say in your passport,” said Cloughie. “Edward Sheringham,”’replied Teddy. “Nice to meet you Edward,” Clough responded. That was the end of that!

On Teddy Sheringham’s birthday, a reminder of his first day at Forest with new boss Brian Clough: 💬”He came walking down the corridor and said: ‘Ah you must be Edward Sheringham’. I told him I was, but I preferred to be called Teddy. He said: ‘OK, welcome to the club, Edward’.”

Important 3 pts for @tamworthfc boys last night, 11 more points should ensure safety. 2 Altrincham CBs spent first 20 mins passing to each other, analyst drooling over stats, then concede to a free header in the box !! #moderngame

@RoworthJack Are you a journalist Jack? If so probably not a great idea to be sticking up for a mate who has kicked a defenceless man in the head and then attacked his girlfriend! Not a great look - this is the definition of thuggery surely?

Nottinghamshire Police have described my mate as a “thug”. Yes, he was an idiot on this night and it was very bad, but he’s not a thug. I think that’s harsh to fit their article. His life change since the incident isn’t mentioned whilst on bail. nottinghamshire.police.uk/news/nottingha….

Oliver Glasner has been trying to get the sack at Palace for weeks. As I reported in my blog a month ago - Parrish is happy for him to leave but he won’t go with money. He has to go though. He’s dragging Palace down.

🚨🔴 There was a sense that during Sean Dyche's training sessions at Nottingham Forest, far too much emphasis was placed on running and other physical drills, above working with the ball. 🏃‍♂️ Some players even felt tired going into matches, reports @MailSport. 😵

@SheldonMiller @henrywinter Managers will largely never have that strength of position any more chap - not if players are going to be continually consulted by owners after four or five poor results - those days are gone for ever - no more running through nettles mate

2/2 This erosion of the Forest Manager position, borne about by knee jerk reactions is cancerous. It erodes not only the position but it erodes valuable culture, that takes so long to build but is quick to destroy. You can’t see or touch culture per se but you can see it in results, for good or bad. The irony is most of the best culture is built through crisis, when people’s trust in each other is tested the most and bonds are built. Where are the bonds built, culture developed and what is the strategy when we flip-flop through 4 Managers in a season? It is impossible to build a winning mentality without a robust, solid culture. What is culture? It’s simple: it’s a shared way of doing things, from top to bottom. That has to be built on trust and trust is built on honesty. It’s time everyone was honest, honest with communication, mistakes made, the strategy & the plan. Until then and until the position of Nottingham Forest Manager is restored with full respect, solidarity, support, integrity & honesty then we’ll end up back here again. Round in circles.

Utter Work Nonsense. Nottingham Forest sack Sean Dyche. Nominated for Manager of the Month for January. Last 6 PL games: 2 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss. Wolves draw was undeniably poor. No goals from 35 attempts. But Forest’s best finisher is 34 and been injured since October. When you are on your fourth manager of the season, the problem might not simply be them, it might also be you - recruitment, culture and the right leadership from owner and sporting director. Marinakis has done a lot for Forest, but he's embarrassing them now. Edu also an issue. Forest fans deserve better than this poor leadership. #NFFC

@forestfocuspod @FFScout_Mark How many players told you that directly Mark? If you have a list of on the record comments then brilliant - if you are just trotting out the tired old trope of “he’s lost the dressing room” probably best not to condemn pundits too much

🗣️ 'The pundits were getting it wrong, they were ignoring that massive factor that the players had lost faith in Dyche.' @FFScout_Mark says Sean Dyche had to go in the end despite what national media pundits have generally said this week. #nffc

@maxdhayes All football fans want a “bit more” the bit more is - effort, pride and complete professionalism - where fans let themselves down is being brainwashed into thinking any player that comes to any club actually gives a flying fuck - mercenary to a man all of them

@mpotts81 @GambleWithLives And discovering that has a real fascination for me Mark - putting barriers in place and stopping is flimsy if you never discover the real reasons behind actions

@IanEdwards46 @GambleWithLives To truly understand why these cases are happening, the full picture is vital. Identifying and addressing the route cause and triggers are very individual, very rarely is the act of gambling/alcohol/drugs the main issue, its mainly the escapism from the source of the real pain.

@mpotts81 @GambleWithLives Totally agree - I would guess most people with severe gambling problems have a myriad of other issues - depression, alcohol, drugs, dysfunctional lives in general - all problems feed each other

@IanEdwards46 @GambleWithLives It is dangerous IMO to always blame the act of gambling in these awful cases. It ingnores the obvious associated isues from the individuals that needed to be addressed if more of these scenarios are to be avoided. In this case, drug use, depression and anxiety were also present.

@mpotts81 @GambleWithLives I was referring in general to the unscrupulous minds that think it is ok to play with people’s lives - whether that be regulated or not. I totally get that unregulated pose much more of a serious threat of these tragedies escalating

@IanEdwards46 @GambleWithLives The regulated industry were compliant here Ian, it even alludes to it in the Guardian. Excluded, Gamstop etc. He was then drawn back in by illegal operators marketing to him. Unfortunately this wont be the last of these as there are simply no protections in the illegal market.
