Is there a sensible explanation why Italy's figures for The Virus are worse than any other country's? Over 1/4 of all the deaths in the whole world seem to be there. Yet Italy has less than 1% of the world's population. Ideas?

I often think about parallels between scientific programming and writing. A main() method should come first and give overview, just like an abstract. Functions, like paragraphs, should be about one thing. Modules are like chapters. Importing a library is like a citation...

@allenholub @Skip Thanks Allen, appreciate the speedy reply. The flag works well for me and glad to hear it sounds reasonable.

A bug is an indication of a missing test. When a bug surfaces, your first response should be to create a failing test that will pass once the bug is fixed.

If you make your process more involved, more explicit, more fixed, more “correct”… … the more time you’ll spend serving the process, including reinforcing it, rather than getting value.

It was a fun session and as a result the next release of etlhelper (Python library to simplify data transfer between databases) will have support for Informix.

Since the release of the new SIMD data - we’ve mapped on our @FalkirkJuniorBC membership data against the updated SIMD mapping. Only 1.6% of our membership live in the 20% most deprived parts of Falkirk. We must, and will, do more to make this sport truly accessible for all.

This afternoon we listened to the story of the lost sheep. We discussed how everyone of us is unique and precious. The pictures we drew were just lovely. 🐑

The daily standup isn’t a status meeting—it’s a *coordination* meeting. If you’re not planning how to work together, but only reporting status, you can cut it. Or start collaborating more.
