@juneslater17 China may be at the heart of everything wrong with this Government. Join the dots. It's getting rather like that old movie The Manchurian Candidate. Scary...
English

@juneslater17 Perhaps Govt should issue rape alarms to every woman in the country as standard. There was a time a woman could consider it safe to walk the streets of this land without fear, whatever time of day or night. What has happened to this green and pleasant land?

🚨 Keir Starmer’s secret pension perk that regular workers can never get.
In 2013, as DPP, he got SI 2013/2588: a custom “Pension Scheme for Keir Starmer QC” that is tax-unregistered.
That means his entire 2008-2013 pot dodged the Lifetime Allowance cap (then ~£1.5m) and the 55% tax hit normal people pay on excess savings.
Plus full inflation uprating under the 1971 Act — guaranteed.
You? Pay tax on every penny over the cap, with no special rules or loopholes.
Elites write the rules for themselves. Starmer’s “one rule for me” pension is proof. Hypocrisy level: maximum.

@benonwine Unbelievable. What is wrong with people. We used to be a nation of animal lovers. Yes BBC things have gone too far but not the way you say it has.

@FilmsRadiance This is probably an unpopular take on this- I'm always excited for announcements, but I hope there's nothing that appeals to me, my wallet can't take it- I've delayed a few purchases already, like The Stunt Man. It's been crazy lately, too many great titles

A country that cannot provide swift medical care for its people is broken.
A country where thousands die prematurely awaiting hospital care is broken.
A country in the Bottom Two of survival rates for common cancers in the developed world is broken.
A country where the target for the time between cancer diagnosis and starting treatment is the highest in Europe - and we still don’t hit it - is broken.
A country where state of the art drugs and treatment are unaffordable is broken.
A country with grossly unsafe maternity care where the NHS pays out billions to babies they have either killed or damaged for life is broken.
A country where my mother’s elderly neighbour waited 17 hours lying on the floor for an ambulance - and died - is broken.
A country where six hours bleeding or vomiting in A&E is the norm is broken.
A country where Corridor Care is a thing is broken.
A country where you have to call at 8am to compete to see a doctor maybe in three weeks time and not even in person is broken.
A country where millions of people accept all of the misery and pain and discomfort and danger described above as just what we have to put up with is broken.
Britain is Broken.

@mcd16660 @afneil @paulafr68963440 I don't understand why we don't simply stop the benefits, stop the hotels, phones, we don't need to stop the boats, just cancel the gravy train.
English

@afneil @paulafr68963440 Cut off the welfare 100%,it's that simple
English

Nonsense. They were flooding in by the lorry-load. When technology made that harder they switched to boats. Do your homework.
Andrew Haslam-Jones@andrewhj
@afneil No, but while it was there, migrants were far less likely to try to cross the Channel. So, it had a deterrent effect that was surrendered with the rest of it by Brexit.

@FilmsRadiance I have five of those, I won't name them in order to heighten the mystery of this enigmatic post, except that ones a noir, ones a comedy, ones a horror, another is set in space, and the other includes a prison drama...
English

@FilmsRadiance This looks gorgeous (and the film's not bad, too 😊). Looking forward to this immensely!
