Quick public service announcement from me. I am NOT a source of information. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Everything I post is just my personal opinion, my half-baked take, or me yelling at the clouds. I will almost certainly be wrong about something (probably multiple things). That’s basically guaranteed. I do this purely for fun, debate, and because I’m bored on the sofa (thanks to the injury). No grand plans, no podcast ambitions, no clout-chasing, no “building a brand.” Just debates and occasional regret in the replies. So argue with me, roast me, or laugh along — but please don’t quote me in an argument or as proof of facts like I’m some kind of authority. I’m basically just a person with opinions and Wi-Fi. Carry on! 😂❤️

Police were quick enough to identify and arrest a suspect early on…but have now made an active decision not to release any CCTV footage or description of the killer If releasing the footage could help catch whoever did this WHY are they refusing to show it, surely it would help

So have I got this? The police said they believe the suspect is a white male but because they released a different white male people are convincing themselves differently

@WasAcop @RonnytheT But, on this occasion they know the timeframe. Between when she spoke to Channel 5 and when she failed to answer 40 minutes later. Surely that helps?

🚨There will be other avenues of identification, internal identification i.e. known criminal to other officers in the area. I would also presume they will be using facial recognition technology to identify them from previous convictions if the CCTV is clear. Only when these lines have provided zero leads will the CCTV released. Personally I don’t find this strange.

🚨 NEW: Police have made the "active decision" not to release CCTV of the Ann Widdecombe murder suspect "Releasing such prematurely could compromise ongoing enquiries and may prejudice future investigative opportunities"

How do you not remember it was just a couple days ago this very thing happened. There was a woman & child in Bedford found dead on 7th July. Image of the main suspect released on 8th July. Y'know. That rich immigrant who beat his wife and kid to death? Almost immediate release of image. That murder with the suitcase in, i think, Clifton or somewhere? 72 hours after bodies were discovered an image of the suspect was released. It happens a lot, as I said before.

Contrary to popular (twitter/X) belief, it is not unusual for the police to hold images/CCTV of a suspect back. Providing evidence to the public is a tough balancing game - the last thing you want is to compromise your investigation by scuppering opportunities to locate your subject. The police will be working around the clock & utilising all investigative tools to locate their suspect. Only when those fail would you release the image to the public for help.

@CaddyKathl51230 Or they are allegations that are false and used to prevent them progressing in the party.. 🤷‍♂️

But what gets me is that Labour apparently have enough info on MP’s and peers who are sex pests and bullies, to collate a list for Burnham. Who will then reject them and what then? The culprits just carry on with whatever nefarious behaviour regardless. What a way to run a party. 😧

The ‘dirt list’ of Labour MPs and Peers alleged to be sex pests and bullies that Andy Burnham will receive before choosing his leadership team… This is starting to sound a lot like the purges in socialist countries — compile a secret list of “undesirables”, decide who gets to stay in power, and move on. How do names actually get added? Are those on the list told they’re included? Do they get any chance to defend themselves? Who’s compiling it and what evidence is required? Due process is apparently optional now. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

The pivot from cheering about it being a "white British man" and "not terrorism or politically motivated" to "we don't know who it was or what motivated them" is the issue. This is a very high profile case with massive public interest and we're already being told to look away. It's infuriating.

@RonnytheT It does. They won’t be checking just that camera; they will be checking ANPR, other door cams, dash cams, CCTV from petrol stations, etc.

I watched the channel 5 Major Crimes Unit documentaries, one was attempted murder where they had to trawl through hours of CCTV to identify the persons they suspected. It took weeks & it was in Birmingham where there’s plenty of Cameras! It’s never straightforward! It needs patience & the right result!

Just can’t understand why some think this is a grand conspiracy! Police processes in murder or attempted murder need to identify the perpetrators beyond reasonable doubt! If it takes a week to release CCTV there is a very good reason for it! It’s more complex because that area would be low in realistic video to prove anything, but I think they know who they are looking for-just need to evidence it properly otherwise they get off!

@WasAcop @LionOfBritainUK You are absolutely right in all you have said, but- in sure you understand the disconnect that the public feels when CCTV is only released months after an incident. Police Comms are dreadful

The police are NOT helping themselves here they say they do not want to release the CCTV because it could "prejudice the investigation" NOT releasing it will do that anyway because already I'm seeing everyone say "well they couldn't wait to say the guy they originally arrested was white" and now they don't want to release the CCTV because of this.. I'm sorry but the police don't want people to speculate they should not have mentioned this and just say investigations are ongoing and we appeal for any information etc.
Grifty@TheGriftReport

Police don't want to release cctv footage... "At this time we have made the active decision not to release further information, including descriptions of any potential suspects or releasing CCTV footage. "Releasing such information prematurely could compromise ongoing enquiries and may prejudice future investigative opportunities." The Assistant Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall police said: "I want to start with expressing my thanks to the local community and to the people who have come forward so far with their information. "We have been working at pace on this investigation. "Officers are making progress and are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry. "At this time we have made the active decision not to release further information, including descriptions of any potential suspects or releasing CCTV footage. "Releasing such information prematurely could compromise ongoing enquiries and may prejudice future investigative opportunities. "The decision not to disclose further details at this time is made on an operational basis. We will release information to the public when it is appropriate and necessary, in order to support the investigation. "I would ask the public again, please do not to speculate on social media. "If you have any relevant information and have not yet reported, please do so via the major incident public portal. "Our thoughts remain with Ann Widdecombe’s family and friends at this sad time. They continue to be supported by specialist officers. "We will provide updates as and when we are able to and thank you for your patience" What i find weird was tbey couldn't wait to say they arrested a white guy now this...
