BBC 'journalism'. @JustinOnWeb on BBC Today Programme yesterday said the Afghan hunger crisis is "worsened by aid cuts, by the Taliban government's own policies and by severe drought". Look, Owen Jones has done important work criticising Starmer since 2020 but let's be clear - there were many, many "progressive" people who were not fooled and who did not say Starmer needed to be supported in 2020 x.com/i/status/20542… @ElwinWay
Owen Jones@owenjonesjourno

@Thelma_DWalker @piciniscoceltic @WorkersPartyGB Everyone from Corbyn to Len McCluskey wrote similar things accepting Starmer's leadership victory in good faith. It'd have gone down like a cold sick otherwise in any case

Dr @iainoverton does great work but this claim really needs to be questioned. Byline Times has huge corporate advertisers (x.com/i/status/20353…). Does he really think a writer could write an article directly criticising them? x.com/i/status/20567… @medialens @kennardmatt
Dr Iain Overton@iainoverton

In all my years writing for Byline I’ve never felt that they put pressure on me to write certain ways or give a political slant. This is not true for some other media outlets I have worked for in the past.

The media seem uninterested in the fact it was Josh Simons from the factional, Morgan McSweeney-linked Labour Together organisation that stood aside for Burnham. What does he think he knows about how Burnham will govern? theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

The Financial Times (8-9 May 2026)/the bond markets have a much better understanding of UK politics than the vast majority of centrists and liberals: "Bond markets regard Starmer and his chancellor Rachel Reeves as bulwarks against a more left-wing government"
