@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad massively disagree on the training aspect. But then to a degree we have to take responsibility for our own training and companies top it up with specifics. i have to train on new things all the time. usually it’s my own responsibility

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad The average working person from places like Clacton wouldn't be able to afford to move to the nicer parts of cities like you mention. Nor would they get training in jobs there because it's cheaper to get in a migrant for the job.

@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad so you think if say leamington businesses weren’t allowed to recruit programmers, sound designers, visual artists globally they would relocate studios to places like clacton and great Yarmouth? i’m highly skeptical and i don’t buy that skilled immigrants are cheap anyway

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad I have explained it clearly. Work is centralised in big cities. Rather than working to get people in those areas into new jobs it's cheaper to just import migrants into the cities. Those areas decline. The cities get more populated so house prices go up. Nothing fixed.

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad I have already gone through this. Those areas are traditional working class areas left with nothing. Work is centralised into big cities so if course nobody new into the country is going to move to a area with no work. These areas just get left to decline.

@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad i take your point purely meant that if you don’t enjoy trappings of a modern city then wouldn’t enjoy what comes with a thriving town that bucks the trend. for example leamington, due to being a games dev hub, has a lot of workers from around the world living there

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad "You people" not sure what you refer to there. Quite derogatory tbh I don't think I have been that way with you during this. My "my people" do you mean working class or what?

Paying taxes hurts really bad when you see just how much is really wasted Most people don’t mind paying tax until they see £2.3bn blown on HS2. £29bn on Covid. £700m wasted on deportation scheme. A few billion here, a few billion there Normal people work their entire lives to pay half a mil 500k in taxes & a PM spends that in expenses. It’s the WASTE more than the cost that makes people angry

@NicholasTyrone they are correct though. centrist liberals get called leftists because they are left of right wing nationalists. they aren’t really and in many ways the nationalist right has more in common with the left than the people they think are left

Quick question. Im a man, coming up 59 years old, worked all my life, paid all my taxes, never been in trouble with the law ( apart from the odd speeding ticket) took early retirement a few years ago and I self finance that retirement with a private pension i paid into for years (and don't take a single penny from the state) by working hard and sacrificing other things to do so. So am I considered a far right thug for being a normal person?

@joshuasdad22 well none of that has anything to do with conservative nationalism lots of people do all that in your post who don’t cling to flags to prop their self esteem or have their foreign colleagues. so if you are being called far right then i suggest you look at other aspects

@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad believe me they are. obviously there are the odd towns like leamington, Guildford, St leonard’s etc with tech or arts hubs that attract young professionals but they have all the things you people hate anyway and have the advantages of cities in that regard

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad People aren't attracted to cities. They have no choice all the work is centralised into them. People have to go there if they want certain work which causes the cost of living in those areas to rise. Why people after getting far enough leave the country all together.

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad What do you mean. It's makes perfect sense. People who go into care find the amount they earn is not enough for what they do so leave and go into other things. Rather than raise their wages they just get migrants in instead. Not fixing the problem in the long term.

@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad yeah, but nobody is moving in so it doesn’t make sense. care is a problematic one as obviously the average age is climbing year on year so so is the demands on care services. it’s much worse an issue of course in reform country as the age profile is higher than mainstream

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad It is cheaper for businesses to hire foreign labour than it is to raise wages to attract people into jobs like care. Or invest in training the next generation into these roles. Rather than helping or pushing businesses to do it the government just gives the easy option.

@ASimpleFro95451 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad everyone i know pretty much goes the opposite way. not necessarily to london but certainly to cities. i grew up in a brexity/reformy town myself. they attract people with a certain set of views, where they attract people at all

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad People in places like Clacton are there because the cost of living in London is too high. Most moved out as their areas changed against their will and found there is no work for them. Working people completely screwed by the last 20 years + of government policy.

@s8mb how can your productivity be higher at the office when there are 5 conversations going on around you distracting you from concentrating on producing anything?

I’m not a “work from home” guy by any means. But I’ve done it a bit lately and it’s certainly nice to see my family during the day. I can see why it’s so popular. But, and it’s a big but, my productivity is unquestionably lower. There’s just no substitute for the office.

@s8mb i’ve always found the office death for productivity. depending on the office. open plan shared with more than two people particularly bad. if i can find somewhere to squirrel away then that’s a bit different.

@IanJon407 @jsreynolds59 @Sargon_of_Akkad Their areas have been sabotaged. They didnt choose to lose their industry and are now being left with nothing. All while cheap labour is bought in to replace them. The government is the enemy not them.

The intense, irrational hatred of Starmer is fascinating. He is by no means the 'worst PM ever'. He merely has the misfortune to be PM when the legitimacy of the state is at a low ebb, society is more divided than ever, people angrier, and the far-right bolder and better funded.
Danny - #AVFC@danielhavfc

The hate for Starmer is so fake and forced btw. Tories did FAR worse in those 14 years and people acting like it didn't happen.

MPs are receiving a £3,300 'cost of living' salary hike as part of a 5% pay rise this week. One won't - Rupert Lowe. Every penny goes to local charities in his constituency of Great Yarmouth. Actions speak louder than words.
