TWEET @recpress X A substantial update from @EU_Eurostat gives an interesting insight on the state of the temporary labour market across the English Channel. The data shows that, in 2024, the share of temporary employment in the EU was the lowest observed from 2015 to 2024, at 11%. The report does not explain in much detail why this is the case. But it does point out that the difference between women and men remained stable over the period, with consistently higher shares among women. Between 2015 and 2024, fluctuations in temporary employment were typically more pronounced than those recorded for non-temporary employment, too. The data goes on to say, in 2024, temporary employment agency workers represented 2.3% of total employment in the EU (people aged 15 to 64), with a higher share for men (2.6%) than for women (1.9%). In 2024, the largest shares of all temporary employment were recorded for professionals and service and sales workers. Elementary occupations (jobs that involve the performance of simple and routine tasks) also accounted for a substantial share of temporary employment. Across educational levels, women had higher shares of temporary employment than men, both among those with children and those without children. Eurostat’s data also shows, that in 2024, 31.1% of employees aged 15 to 29 in the EU had a temporary job, compared with 7.4% among those aged 30 to 54 and 4.6% for those aged 55 to 64. The EU statistics body data says that, in 2024, among people aged 15 to 29, the most common reason for having a temporary contract was participation in education or training. This was followed by not finding a permanent job and a job being available only as a temporary contract. In contrast, for those aged 25 to 64, the most frequent reasons for temporary employment were not finding a permanent job and availability only as a temporary contract. More on Alexander Isak. Newcastle striker will not change his position with the window open unless Liverpool inform him a move is impossible, as revealed yesterday. That hasn't happened with Liverpool still active. Understand Newcastle want clarity this week with ownership now involved in several Isak-specific meetings. Liverpool prepared to bid at least £120m if offered encouragement. £110m offer viewed by Liverpool as competitive given all the money was guaranteed, and it followed #NUFC indicating a bid would be engaged with. Instead, it was swiftly rejected. £150m number was not countered. Although Newcastle insiders have suggested the £110m bid was low, and done for optics, #LFC still feel it was a starting point informed by previous discussions.🇸🇪
