On 8/5/1915 the New Zealand Brigade suffered 800 casualties on the last day of what became known as the Second Battle of Krithia. They were cut down crossing a beautiful flower meadow called the Daisy Patch. More…

Overlooking White & Red beach, Dieppe. Taken yesterday on the high ground overlooking the esplanade as we discussed Operation Jubilee, the Dieppe raid, from August 1942.

@TerryWhenham Same here mate. Usually the one who knows everything, knows nothing. And how awful to think you’ve reached that point with nothing left to learn? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tales From The Battlefields Podcast
Recently I have heard people claim to “know everything about the #Somme and #ww1”. They claim to be “experts”. Of course I bow to their excellence but wonder how they measure their expertise. For example, how do they know they know everything? I learn something new every day. 🥸

SECRETARY RUBIO: The U.S. is constantly asked to help in wars and we have. But when we had a need, it didn’t get positive responses from NATO. A couple leaders said that Iran was not Europe’s war. Well, Ukraine isn’t our war, yet we’ve contributed more to that fight than anyone.

@LordAshcroft @I_W_M I recently visited the IWM Lambeth and I was disappointed with what I found, not as good as it used to be. It used to be a quite place where you could reflect on the past, nowadays school children running amok, making plenty of noise. Shame

I found this by chance in Leeds yesterday, less than a mile from YCCC ground. Captain Hedley Verity died in Caserta hospital in Italy after being wounded in the battle to secure Sicily.

@QuinssaRugby received this back from customer service as i cannot make the game on the 21st. Hello, We don't predict that resale will be available for this match. The stadium needs to be 90% sold for resale to be activated so at the moment we don't think this will happen.

Well played boys! A nice run out in the sunshine, as we wrap up our Prem Cup adventures for the season. The Men's next home game is a big one against Gloucester in the League on the 21st March. Let's get behind the boys for that one! ❤️💙🤍🤎🖤💚 #Quinssa #coyq

@IanLoftus1 The Household Division don’t have shoulder ranks in mess dress till you are a full Col. You can tell the rank by the gold rope on the wrist. 💂🏻‍♀️

My daughter managed to catch a short clip of the first tour. Nerves were masked by humour 🤦‍♂️ as per. A long weekend before returning to it on Tuesday. If you love what you do, it isn’t work 💪🏼 🏰🗝️

Well, what can I say, today was the day I had my final test of the story, 9,000 words etched into my every waking moment since the 1st September. Passed with flying colours and had the honour of taking the first tour of the day, my first ever! AND, I had my daughter here to witness and share it. Unreal feeling, a huge thanks to all my HRP family, the Yeoman Body and most importantly, my mentor, Lisa who has had the job of guiding me through 1000 years of history. I now get my early mornings and evenings back 🤣 @TowerOfLondon @HRP_palaces

I've just been reduced to tears by the account of the dawn execution of Denis Blakemore in 1917 and his subsequent pardon in 2006. For once The Telegraph is right - the book is very thought-provoking and very definitely a tear-jerker and I'm only half way through it!

England were not good enough on the day, Scotland played brilliantly. Will leave it at that. Wales I feel sorry for, no idea why they are not playing like they used to. They will bounce back and come back to being a great team again soon
