Younger than me. And of the group, as far as I can find out, there's only me, and one other, still alive. That's such a sobering thought, that I immediately want to get pissed. And I don't do pissed. Not ever. But, fucking hell.

As a late teenager I hung out with a group of 16 lads, and sometimes sisters/friends. We'd go out to pubs and clubs en masse. Great group. Two were brothers. Lovely lads. One hung himself when his wife left him for a woman. I just found out that the other brother just died.

📰 A new paper from Forest Research’s Dr Andrew Leslie and @teagasc’s Dr Ian Short in the @royal_forestry Quarterly Journal of Forestry, reviews the published literature on the benefits of mixed broadleaf and mixed conifer and broadleaf stands. It concludes that mixed stands can increase yield, improve timber quality and increase resilience to climate related drought, pests and diseases, acting as an ‘insurance policy’ for UK woodland. 🌳🌲 Read the article: ow.ly/Rq0y50VAI9u #Forestry #MixedWoodland #UKForestry

Yesterday was take 10yr old grandson to work day. 30 minutes before I took this video he'd never picked up a chisel or seen a woodlathe. He watched and helped me finish of a garden dibber and then under my watchful eye I let him have a go.

Photos Silvopasture planted in 1991 on the Gibson Family Farm in Antrim, absolutely thriving! 🌳🐑 I visited this sheep and suckler (Saler) farm first in 1998 and even then the Gibsons recognised agroforestry as a viable economic and environmental option for their marginal land.
