Funniest thing just happened at the National stadium Surulere traffic light. Light was still on green, I passed and before I knew it, about 3 LASTMA officials and 2 policemen rushed me and said I should “Park there” I wound down and the first thing that came to my mouth was “I beg all of your pardons!!!!” Furious and knowing well without an iota of doubt that the light was still green when I passed, you need to see the way I gave them back hot hot. The policeman entered my car and said I should not follow them and argue, I told him Oga, I will follow you and argue this one because I am not blind. I will follow you anywhere you want us to go to but I promise you I did not break traffic light. Never in my entire driving career have I moved when the light is red whether there’s camera, no camera or police/LASTMA watching, where am I going that 60-90seconds wait will be a problem? I immediately brought out my phone and went to payvis.com , ran my plate number through it and showed them that my record was not found in any traffic offense list. Seeing that I was dead sure and I wasn’t going to fall for their stupid games, one of the LASTMA officials told the policeman “leave this man, he is one of those principled people” At this point they already knew I wasn’t having any of their nonsense, the policeman then said they are eight in numbers, I should find something got them. I told him “One kobo, I will not give you” because what you have done if indeed I fell for it is unfair. You knew I didn’t break any light but wanted to try it and see whether I’d fall for it. He replied and said “Eyin yi ti buru ju” meaning I am too tough” and I replied him have a nice day Officer. Just imagine if I didn’t stand my ground, that’s how they would have used me to do weekend. Police and LASTMA, twin criminal organization in Lagos always ready to extort. Nonsense!!!!!
