Makerere University School of Public Health
Today, March 31, 2026, Makerere University School of Public Health, through the MakSPH Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support (MakSPH-METS) Program, officially handed over national digital health systems and assets to the Ministry of Health at a ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters. This transition marks the culmination of 15 years of sustained investment of US$103.8 million by the US government through CDC and PEPFAR, partnership, and system strengthening. Established in 2010, the MakSPH-METS Program was designed to address long-standing gaps in Uganda’s health system, particularly fragmented data systems, limited coordination, and weak use of digital tools in decision-making. Over time, the program worked closely with the government to build a more connected, responsive, and data-driven health system. Working with partners, significant progress has been made in improving the accessibility, timeliness, and reliability of health data supporting better decision-making across the system. Disease surveillance has expanded considerably, with over 1,300 health facilities now implementing case-based surveillance, alongside strengthened capacity in HIV recency and mortality tracking. Reporting rates have improved from 58% in 2020 to 98% in 2025, while electronic medical record coverage has grown to over 86% nationwide. The handover included critical infrastructure such as 725 servers; more than 4,700 computing devices, including desktops, laptops, and tablets; solar power systems for nearly 800 health facilities; connectivity equipment for more than 1,300 sites; video conferencing systems; and upgrades to regional referral hospital networks, alongside skilled personnel to support these systems. All assets have now been fully transitioned to government ownership, with strengthened national capacity to manage and sustain them, supported by the United States Government through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) @CDCgov. As Prof. Rhoda Wanyenze, Dean of MakSPH and Principal Investigator of the program, noted, this moment goes beyond a transfer of assets. It reflects systems that have been co-created, embedded, and are now fully owned by the government @GovUganda. The ceremony was officiated by the @USAmbUganda, William W. Popp, and the Permanent Secretary, @MinofHealthUG, Dr. @DianaAtwine, DG. @olaro_charles PI @metsprogrammeugand Dean, @MakSPH @RhodaWanyenze Among the 16 systems transitioned are platforms supporting electronic medical records in health facilities; HIV case-based surveillance and dashboards; disease outbreak and respiratory illness tracking; stock monitoring for HIV, TB, reproductive health, and COVID-19 commodities; viral load and early infant diagnosis reporting; quality improvement monitoring; PEPFAR reporting; DREAMS tracking; ICT infrastructure management; e-learning; and health worker support systems.

AI is telling me that Genesis Chapter 1… from the Bible (KJV even!) … is “100% AI generated text.” Let that sink in. How “intelligent” is “AI”?

Humans spent centuries writing books, essays, articles, and research papers. Then we used all that human writing to train AI systems to write like humans. Then we built another AI system to inspect the writing and say, “This looks AI suspiciously.” So now we have one machine trained on humans to sound human, and another machine trained on humans to figure out whether the first machine sounds a little too human. And after all that, a stressed human still has to make the final call.

Breaking: The American and Israeli aggressors today once again attacked the peaceful nuclear facility at Natanz, Iran, in clear violation of the NPT and IAEA General Conference resolutions that prohibit any attack on nuclear sites due to the grave risk of radiation release. Following today’s attack, technical assessments were conducted by Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center to evaluate the potential release of radioactive material on-site. Based on the results obtained, and given the precautions taken and the data from monitoring systems, no material leaks have been reported. Residents in the areas surrounding the complex are currently not at risk. Just a week ago, the aggressors attacked the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, which fortunately caused no major damage. These follows the U.S. attacks on Iran’s peaceful, safeguarded nuclear sites in June 2025. At that time, Trump callously compared the attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki—an assertion that infuriated both the international community and the Iranian people. Nothing justifies the international community's hesitation in unequivocally condemning these dangerous war crimes by the American and Israeli regimes.

Have you noticed something? Iran is the only country where the top people die first in war. In every other country the leaders and generals sit in luxury and send jawans to slaughter.

The moon god argument 😂😂😂 You just told everyone you get your theology from Facebook memes. “Allah” is literally the Arabic word for God. Arab Christians have been calling God “Allah” for centuries — it’s in every Arabic Bible ever printed. Your own scripture in Arabic says “Allah.” Are Arabic-speaking Christians worshipping a moon god too? This comes from one man — Robert Morey — and his book has been rejected by every credible scholar of Semitic languages, Christian and Muslim alike. Even Christian academics call it embarrassing. You abandoned the 5:47 argument the second I answered it, pivoted to a debunked moon god myth from the 90s, and you have 2 views. I think we’re done here 🤡
