NMKR turns 4 today! Today 4 years ago Fahim & I released the very first version of NMKR. Back then we called it NFT-MAKER. It was the very first time someone was able to create NFTs on the Cardano Blockchain and it became a hit overnight. I remember debugging tons of weird bugs all night and not getting any sleep, which was unfortunate because the day after it was my own birthday - and the guests weren't too happy about a tired Patrick. Soon after my father Sascha joined NMKR to become our CTO and the main developer of NMKR Studio - our most successful product. Then Kristian & Ann-Kristin came and joined as founders to help grow NMKR into a global Web3 powerhouse. Shortly after Phil became our first employee & has been a loyal friend since then. My gut feeling tells me Phil will stay an important part of my work for the rest of my life. With NMKR Studio we helped kickstart the NFT Mania on Cardano, minting literally Millions of NFTs and enabling tens of thousands of creators & businesses to launch their NFTs. This way we were able to help these creators make over 75 Million USD just through the initial sales of their NFTs. But unfortunately not everything is always perfect. We failed a lot & made embracing failure a part of the DNA of NMKR, launching products quickly and also dropping them again quickly. It's painful at times & a lot of great ideas were not successful because of our poor timing, management or execution. We went through the whole Crypto-Winter, getting rug-pulled by investors and having everyone inside the company & outside seemingly losing faith in NMKR and our abilities. As the CEO, this obviously was heartbreaking. Even many of the founding team were forced to take on other jobs and temporarily or permanently leave the company. We were forced to lay off a ton of people which is still the hardest thing I've ever done & honestly every reasonable founder would've probably just quit & liquidated the company. But the proudest thing we've ever done is that we sat down the core team & we said: Not us. We're not quitting, we're going to do whatever is necessary to make NMKR survive. And that's exactly what we did. We cut all our expenses, we dropped all unnecessary products, were able to raise money from the Cardano Community as a grant, really focused and we made our core product NMKR Studio profitable again. Then Kristian was the one who brought back growth into NMKR by doing his Kristian-Magic and bringing unbelievable opportunities to the table. Now we're in the middle of transitioning more & more of NMKR towards Masumi together with Serviceplan Group & Sebastian which has become our top priority & is the biggest and most exciting project we've ever worked on. The momentum we currently have is higher than it has ever been, the team is fired up and there's no doubt in our minds that we will turn Masumi into a Billion Dollar project. Happy 4th birthday of NMKR!
