This is not me defending anybody but if you have not admitted the flaws publicly, you did not at any point question the process before or after the election, why are you coming to me in private? To take pictures and post that all is well? Particularly, if the said visit was not made public by the person who was visited but you, who visited? To what end? They don’t deserve to be angry after going length and breath of the country only for 30% of eligible voters to decide the election which you obviously do not see as an abomination? Was this visit communicated in advance and the visit welcomed or someone just dropped in on them to control the narrative? We must begin to ask sane questions as lawyers. I haven’t said much publicly after the election, I have rejected invites to personally speak on TV on it but this is beginning to be nauseating. If you want to close ranks, you know exactly what to do and you don’t start by dropping in on fellow contestants. That’s you seeking acceptance. No acceptance can happen unless you agree that there was a problem and commit to solving it. The common lawyers whose rights to vote were taken should be addressed with sincerity.

On NBA Elections, @OmoyemiAkangbe SAN has spoken my mind. People keep urging us to let bygones be bygones, accept the outcome, and move on. However, I don’t feel inclined to congratulate a candidate who has refused to acknowledge the clear flaws in the process, simply because the outcome favoured her. To me, this silence reveals a lot about her character. When Umaru Musa Yar’Adua was elected President of Nigeria, he openly admitted that the process that brought him to power was flawed and pledged to reform it. That level of honesty and accountability isn’t difficult. The NBA President-elect could have done the same.
