This is a three-part series in which I discuss the philosophical undercurrents of Old English poetry through a Nietzschean lens. The three essays cover The Wanderer, The Battle of Brunanburh, and The Seafarer. Written by anonymous Anglo-Saxon poets during the early Dark Ages, each poem contains what I'd argue is a remarkably coherent philosophical worldview, and one that predates and yet closely parallels both classical Stoicism and Nietzsche's later thinking on will, impermanence, and the creation of meaning in the absence of reliable outcomes. The core argument running through all three is straightforward in that the Anglo-Saxon tradition understood, long before Western philosophical vocabulary existed to describe it, that the world offers no metaphysical guarantee of justice or reward, and that this is not a reason for despair but the very condition that makes genuine bravery in the face of (perceived) nihilism possible. The relevance to today is, I think, fairly obvious, for these are texts written over a thousand years ago that have, if anything, grown more relevant rather than less. It’s a niche subject but it's something I've been wanting to examine for a while.

social media itself its at point that comoditises the human. which means that everyone is just fuel its not based on community thus social media is not social for what use are social medias then? its like, better have an AI interface in your place & check its work once a week anything u wanna do, let dead internet talk in your place memes, cats, emotional fueling politics used for rituals, entertainment, sports, music, gossip might aswell just automate it all and bots talk to each other. and it seems like owners want such thing but also customers have no choice because the only one that can actually own something are big tech conglomerates so whats the end goal? >no one likes each other >everyone hates >everyone attention fueling economy algorithm does not promote knowledge/information but attention grabbing methods so whats the point? tell me tell me what purpose do i have as a human in a automated and AI environment full of bots, manipulators, tech giants that sell attention from people as caviats if the art is taken from the artist what is the point of creating, of giving money? the fuck do i need something that doesnt have human soul? the fuck i need something that doesnt have people united the fuck i need ANYTHING while i watch YOU and OTHERS, and ANIMALS, and NATURE suffer because of choices that people make for profit ok say you have a child, and you abbandon it to fend for himself but the society is constructed in such way that they cant fend for themselves because its parasytical, it can only provide if you feed a piece of your flesh but your child can only know what it is taught what is taught is what society taughts which is adultury, manipulation, hate, usury, individualism, sins, display of power while every display of god is corrupted with some individualistic projection people make about themselves and such gods are given attention by a community of people that hate themselves god (yes, god not God) god becomes fallable that child worships the amalgamations of creations made by the shadows of man you as an outsider who may have higher consciousness, can see that child suffering in its own ignorance or as some people say about jesus " boiling in its own excrement " equally your child suffers in its own shit and others shit which noooo one wants to clean up and take care now zoom out that child is a dog, a cat, a plant, your street, your river, other human, the sky everyone is trying to survive, sick, begging for mercy to survive 2 choices they choose : adultury, manipulation, hate, usury, individualism, sins >they get food they choose: not to sin but act by heart >they are ignored and die sick and suffer each day you wake up with your little bit of consciousness you watch old people suffer while being pure, and in their own ignorance because no one taught them more or gave them more each day you wake up you might see a dead animal, a cat or rat on the road left over no one to touch each day you wake up you might see a begging animal for food but society is not constructed in such a way that they can provide for themselves, so the streets offer nothing do you understand streets offer nothing you fucker they go dig on trash to feed themselves on the yesterday humans chosing to act as they own anything you dont own anything you fucker, God does you're supposed to take care of each other to take care of its creation not murder it, not starve it, not suck it dry, not crucify it you see different consciousness of people going into different niches of people to find themeselves >music > death, fight, drug, sex, abuse >social media> politics, hate, fun fun fun fun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun funfun fun fun >world > :) :) :) ( ): no one really knows themselves but tries to find themselves in the shit of each other fragmented find fragments,fragmented find fragments but if the fragments are all the shadow shit of someone else and all the fragments of God exhausted, all that remains is fragments each other shit everyone feeds themselves shit in human centipide style and world runs around until the next day starts again :D :d :d :d :d :d :d do you understand how painful it is to know and to understand but no one's heart to speak to and no one heart to help? @englishcounties Gaels aren't the same as the Brythonic tribes who inhabited the region prior to the settlement of the Angle and Nordic tribes. The Irish influence came later. It doesn't make it a predominantly Celtic region.

I think WSH ancestry is fairly evenly distributed amongst Insular Celts and North Germanic peoples. Prior to recent archeological discoveries, I had long opined that the Gaels and North/West Germanic tribes are essentially the same root folk speaking different languages. The Irish, Scots, Angles, Saxons, Danes and Norwegians all share a starkly similar warrior mythos, for example.
