On the flipside, the UK system where you mind your business works better than what you've got in Nigeria
The over familiarity in Nigeria breeds contempt.
I'd give you a personal example.
I moved into a neighborhood in Okhoro Benin city, and in one week, all the people who lived close to me, came to greet and welcome me
The next moment, they want to know what I do, and possibly how much I earn
The next moment, na so so, abeg can you give us oil, abeg give me urgent 2k
I go on a trip, & return, they claim I went to start my building in the village. This was not factual
Before you say jack, folks you don't know from Adam are already competing with you, how to be better than you, not how to be the best of themselves
I do an on-call on Christmas eve & Christmas day, these guys come to my house to harass my family, that I didn't 'do Christmas for them'.. had to plead with my wife to cook extra, and keep aside money for them, so that if they return, they can be fed, and given money (they didn't work for)
Lord knows I do not miss that harassment. The over familiarity in Nigeria is just a means that people rechannel their energies to people who share nothing in common with them, to rip them off.

Abroad is weird.
UK is even more bizarre, to be honest.
Here, your neighbour gives no shiii.
At best, they’ll peep through the window to see who just moved in… and that’s it. No "hi", no nothing.
The social weirdness here is alarming.
You can spend 5 years in a building and not know your neighbours.
How would you even know them?
You don’t see them. You don’t hear them.
If not for my Ring doorbell and the Amazon guy dropping my neighbour’s parcels, I wouldn’t even know they exist.
Semi-detached. We share a wall… but it’s like nobody’s there.
Can’t hear them, they can’t hear us.
In the UK, I’ve even heard of people passing away and nobody knows not until 4–5 days later.
It’s beyond just privacy at that point, it's something else.

@UgWrites I think those fully dependent on AI are the ones who claim anything is AI. If you know about the process you won't just up and call people hard work AI. And AI should assist not replace.

The day I let Ai write for me is the day I stop being Ug. Quietly I'll deactivate.
Imagine a writer taking their time to craft a story built from personal experience, a friend’s reality, imagination, and yes, sometimes fiction.
Then a few random people show up:
"that’s Ai"
"ChatGPT generated"
Don’t you all think?
Not everyone is as dull as you are.
Some persons are actually good at writing.
Here’s the funny part, you can literally study how Ai writes.
I did.
The spacing & short sentences before full stops most especially.
I noticed it does better on X.
Why? It makes reading easier.
I do this & it makes it more appetizing for readers on X.
That’s called being clever.
So don't call everything you see Ai.
Sometimes, it’s just talent you can’t recognise.

I was a simp once. Full certified.
There was this lady. I spent everything on her.
Expensive dates I could barely afford. Shoes. Wristwatches.
Uber everywhere, no taxi.
Dispatch riders to her house regularly.
Movie dates. Food dates. Beach. Spa. Every kind of date she could imagine.
I worked hard all week just to spend on Saturday.
She never said yes.
She never said no either.
After months I told her I needed an answer by the next day.
She ghosted me.
Days of silence. Calls not picking.
My heart was doing things I cannot describe.
She finally called back.
"I don't think this will work. I've thought it through. You're a good person. The problem is me."
I couldn't sleep for days.
I was transferring aggression to my workers on-site for nothing. 😂
Several months later she called.
Said she missed me. That every other man she met after wasn't like me. That she was sorry.
I said "Okay."
And blocked her.
Above all, use 12 hours daily to fear that gender.

@UgWrites 😂😂😂I saw this and i just couldn't hold my laughter at all. This doesn't just apply to X generally oh some people can form a simple sentence to save their lives. Imagine having an argument with someone over a call and you hear " come online lets chat" like what is this ?!!!!

Some persons can't speak the way they type/tweet on x.
Audacious, fierce & fluent when you read their texts/tweets online. However, when you speak with them, they barely can articulate their words.
You start wondering.
Truth is, we have too many courageous, bold, fierce & audacious people behind their keyboards. Words fail them, if you ask them to come out & yap all they tweet about audaciously.

1) Being loyal & faithful: In our current society, people hype this up like it's not supposed to be the norm.
What do you mean by, "You are lucky I'm faithful, if not I'd have been out there cheating like the others do."
For real?
Then go further to say,
"Do you know what my friends do behind their partners?" Like come on!
2) Communication: Most would say, "I'm talking to you, you should be happy." My friend thats basic!
Replying texts, updating your partner & all that should require zero effort. It's a bare minimum!

@UgWrites I think this was one of the things that held me back from creating an X account.
And when I finally did I just stuck to writing pages and reading accounts.
I can't be trying to grow myself and keep seeing things that hurt my brain cells.

This is true, truth is bitter.
I felt very unsure when my account got into X Nigeria from the onset. I had to re strategize cos of this.
There are some writings I just hoard cos it won't get the kind of engagement I would want.
Once in a while I've dropped them for testing sakes. I'll either get greeted "Good morning", "GM", or out of point replies.
To survive X Nigeria, I had to observe, study, & birth new strategies over time.
There are so many things I can't relate to at all & I can't pretend to understand 😩.
Overall, I've met good people, people that still read the few stuff I test out too.
Overall, it's crazy out here. People barely pay attention to anything intellectual on
X Ng.

The truth is bitter. X Nigeria hardly engages intellectual tweets. If you want to grow fast in the NG space, buy a blue tick for many people, post porn, fool people, drag others, manufacture agendas against them, and post payout screenshots to farm impressions. That’s why real conversations and intelligent takes rarely get the attention they deserve. I’m not sorry to say it: 90% of the X NG community is very dull.

I feel most of the reason why this is so, is because of the zero tolerance to marriage challenges. Marriage has been commercialized over there to the extent that before you say “I do” the other party is already thinking of how much they can get in divorce settlement and child support
