In 1995, 15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk was raped & murdered on her way to school in the Netherlands. The case went cold for 16 years. Then, suddenly, her stepbrother Andy confessed on Facebook: “I killed my little sister” Police arrested him… but all was not as it seemed. It was, in fact, a deliberate false confession. Andy’s plan? Force them to exhume Nicole’s body for modern DNA testing. The insane gamble worked. In 2014, the real killer, a man with prior rape convictions, was caught & sentenced to 12 years.

@AllexAyub @Reuters @maktejah_ Noise or no noise, it was NOT his place to yell at the audience. Didn’t he come to Kenya after France lost a lot of goodwill and cooperation across West Africa? You’d think that alone would make him a little more mindful of how he speaks to African audiences. I guess not.

@Reuters @maktejah_ Let’s not disguise calling out “bad manners “ as “ Neocolonialism. It’s just wrong to make noise when someone is presenting on stage, regardless of your geopolitical views and affiliations.

This is so distasteful of him. I wonder if he stopped for a second to think about the complicated history between France and our continent before getting up on that stage to patronize and yell at Kenyans, at an event centered on African voices.

Would an African president shut up a noisy audience in France the way Macron did in Nairobi? Some Africans are outraged about the French president's paternalistic tone. But some praise him for showing leadership. Was it rude, or was it the right thing to do?

Foreign Officers Dining with Somali Female Soldiers Sparks Outrage and Confusion A bizarre scene is drawing sharp criticism in #Mogadishu as reports emerge of foreign military officers from #Turkey, #Uganda, #Burundi, and other unknown countries dining with Somali female officers in uniform. Observers say the optics are troubling and unprecedented, raising questions about professionalism, military protocol, and cultural norms. The unusual gatherings have left many wondering about the purpose of such interactions and whether they serve any legitimate training or strategic goal. Critics describe the events as uncultured and questionable, with some even speculating about inappropriate intentions, though no evidence supports such claims. The episode has ignited a debate over the influence of foreign forces in Somalia and the blurred lines between military cooperation and cultural norms. For now, the dinner remains a mystery, leaving citizens and analysts alike unsettled about what it signifies for Somali female officers and the role of foreign militaries inside the country.
