"The most important advice is to go for it. That means to embrace your interests, your passions, and really give it your all." Advice from our 2020 chemistry laureate Jennifer Doudna who shared the prize "for the development of a method for genome editing." #WomenInScience

The significance of this is that it gives ownership to African people & insitutions. It also gives Africa a sense of responsibility to deliver its own genomics & bioinformatics training. By always flying trainers to Africa we create a sense of dependence that doesn't go away.

I'm so proud to call these amazing scientists my friends. Challenging a field to expand its focus towards a less conventional road requires comprehensive data that carefully considers alternative explanations. These guys in the Khodakhah lab @EinsteinMed did just that when 1/2

Yesterday, I received the Legacy Award from the Justice for Black Girls Conference ⁦@SpelmanCollege⁩ for the work I did in bringing Bobbi to ⁦@Yale⁩. To my SHOCK, Bobbi and her family (over 20 people) flew down to SURPRISE me during my speech. I am in tears!🥹🥹🥹
