Non-Jews jokingly calling themselves or others “goyim” is very weird. It feels like they’re making light of a word tied to Jewish identity or playing victim over it. Most ethnicities have pejorative words for “outsider,” unfortunately, but most people saying "goyim" are non-Jews.

I've never seen a jew unironically say "goyim" btw. I'm steelmanning their argument here and saying most ethnicities have pejorative words, so why popularize this one word that jewish people don't even use?
