Young Nigerians are not stupid. We are on fire! Why should anyone pay over ₦600K for a substandard education in a public university? Leave everything & listen to our Gen Zs speak. Tag them. They deserve a massive shout out. Nigeria must be OK in our lifetime!! 😭👏👏

After speaking with Nigerians in Cape Town yesterday, I was able to have meaningful discussions this morning with three South African ministers and political party leaders regarding the ongoing challenges related to immigration, regional collaboration, and fostering peaceful coexistence between our nations. I had the pleasure of meeting with Mr Leon Schreiber, the South African Minister of Home Affairs and a prominent figure in the Democratic Alliance; Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP); and Mr Gayton McKenzie, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture and leader of the Patriotic Alliance (PA). Our conversations were productive and candid, focusing on the current challenges that affect both countries—particularly those related to migration, economic strains, youth unemployment, security issues, and the rising tensions faced by African foreigners in South Africa. I firmly believe that Nigeria and South Africa, both prominent African nations, must enhance dialogue, bolster cooperation, and seek solutions based on justice, mutual respect, and adherence to the rule of law. In challenging times, leaders and citizens alike need to demonstrate responsible leadership, compassion, and restraint. We collectively stressed the importance of law-abiding behaviour, avoiding violence, resisting hate or provocation, and allowing lawful institutions to address grievances through democratic and constitutional processes, regardless of the challenges we face. The progress of Africa hinges on our ability to create unity, foster economic inclusivity, invest in our communities, and uphold the dignity of every African, no matter where they live. -PO

Our Children Deserve Enhanced Learning Environments. Today, May 21st, I had the opportunity to visit Practising Primary School in Agulu, my hometown, which has been a cornerstone of education since its establishment in 1922. Unfortunately, the school suffered significant damage from a fire last year, resulting in the loss of a historical building that had educated generations. During a previous visit, I committed to supporting the school's reconstruction and to helping create a modern, supportive environment for the students. This morning, I was pleased to return and deliver an initial amount of 10 million Naira to help initiate the rebuilding process. Education is a crucial investment for any community, and restoring schools is essential for renewing hope and ensuring a brighter future. I also took the time to engage with the students, encouraging them to take their education seriously. Their future will be shaped by the discipline, effort, and dedication they demonstrate today. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

May 19, 2026 PRESS STATEMENT Nigerians, Go Get Your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) Now The Obidient Movement calls on all Nigerians who are eligible to vote (18 years and above) and are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to seize the opportunity provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. No responsible Nigerian should sit on the fence at this defining moment in our nation’s democratic journey towards a New Nigeria. This crucial nationwide exercise is ongoing and will end on Friday, July 10, 2026. This is the last opportunity for Nigerians to secure their PVCs in preparation for the forthcoming 2027 General Elections. Our movement is borne out of a shared yearning for good governance. We affirm that active participation in the electoral process is not just a constitutional right, but also a sacred duty we owe ourselves and future generations. Our PVCs are the key to unlocking the many untapped potentials of this great nation and ending corruption, insecurity, unemployment, and poverty. We call on civil society organisations, the media, religious bodies, private organisations, government institutions, traders, community leaders, and families to mobilise Nigerians on the need for voter registration and active participation in the voting process. Democracy only thrives when citizens actively participate in electing those who govern them, while voter apathy encourages poor leadership. If you need to replace your lost PVC, transfer your polling unit, or correct your data, quickly log on to the dedicated CVR online portal at: cvr.inecnigeria.org Alternatively, visit the nearest INEC State or Local Government Area office nationwide between 9:00am and 3:00pm. The general public is also informed that INEC will display the register of voters from Thursday, July 23, 2026, to Wednesday, July 29, 2026. This exercise will allow the public to scrutinise the published voters’ records and enable the Commission to correct any observed anomalies. We urge Nigerians not to postpone collecting their PVCs. We must register to vote. We must vote, and we shall defend our mandate. Remember, a registered voter with a PVC today is a powerful voice for change tomorrow. A New Nigeria is POssible. State visits by Leaders are not tourism, and diplomacy is not a fashion parade. Every foreign trip undertaken by a government must deliver measurable benefits to the people, including investments, technology transfer, trade agreements, factory expansion, industrial partnerships, and job creation. During President Trump’s recent visit to China, the American delegation reportedly included a few top government officials, and many of the biggest figures in global business and technology: Consequently, huge trade deals worth several billion dollars including about 200 Boeing orders were achieved. The list of the entourage included 1. Donald J. Trump – President of the United States 2. Marco Rubio – Secretary of State 3. Pete Hegseth – Secretary of Defence 4. Elon Musk – CEO, Tesla & SpaceX 5. Jensen Huang – CEO, Nvidia 6. Tim Cook – CEO, Apple 7. Larry Fink – CEO, BlackRock 8. Stephen Schwarzman – CEO, Blackstone 9. Kelly Ortberg – CEO, Boeing 10. Brian Sikes – CEO, Cargill 11. Jane Fraser – CEO, Citigroup 12. Larry Culp – CEO, General Electric 13. David Solomon – CEO, Goldman Sachs 14. Sanjay Mehrotra – CEO, Micron Technology 15.Cristiano Amon – CEO, Qualcomm 16. Dina P. McCormick – President of Meta 17. Ryan McInerney – CEO, Visa 18. Michael Miebach – President, Mastercard 19. Jim Anderson – CEO, Coherent 20. Jacob Thaysen – CEO, Illumina That is how serious nations approach diplomacy, by aligning foreign policy with economic expansion, industrial growth, innovation, and national productivity. I hope that lessons can be learned from these recent visits comparing them with the President of Nigeria’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom. A large entourage of politicians, aides, and government officials travelled, yet Nigerians are still asking a simple question: what exactly did Nigeria bring home? Which factories are coming to Nigeria? What power, technology, manufacturing, agricultural, or industrial agreements were secured? How many direct jobs will this visit create for Nigerian youths? What investments were attracted? What measurable economic outcomes can the ordinary Nigerian point to? The delegation reportedly included: 1. President Bola Tinubu 2. Senator (Mrs) Tinubu 3.12 governors 4.9 ministers 5.7 members of the National Assembly 6. Over 20 senior State House staff 7. Over 30 security personnel 8. Over 10 domestic staff 9. Several supporters and associates It is not enough to ride horses, wear matching uniforms, attend royal banquets, and release glossy photographs. Symbolism without substance cannot feed hungry citizens. Today, Nigeria is in decline, battling serious insecurity, food insecurity, unemployment, a weakened naira, declining industrial productivity, and worsening poverty. At a time when millions of Nigerians struggle daily to afford food and survive economic hardship, every kobo spent on foreign trips must produce tangible national value: investments, factories, jobs, exports, infrastructure, and economic opportunities. Nigeria needs leadership that is focused less on optics and more on productivity; less on ceremony and more on measurable economic results. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Celebrating Responsible Leadership. Today, I join millions of Nigerians, sons and daughters of Onitsha Kingdom, and all lovers of culture, wisdom, and responsible leadership in celebrating His Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, CFR, the revered Obi of Onitsha, as he marks his 85th birthday. At 85, His Majesty remains a shining symbol of dignity, intellect, humility, and westernised service. His reign has continued to demonstrate that traditional institutions are not relics of the past, but vital pillars for peace, moral leadership, cultural preservation, and national development. The Obi of Onitsha's life remains a strong reminder that leadership is about character, discipline, compassion, and service to humanity. In a society where values are increasingly challenged, His Majesty continues to stand tall as a moral compass and a bridge between tradition and modern nation-building. As a highly accomplished professional before ascending the throne, and now one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers, the Obi of Onitsha has shown that excellence, integrity, and patriotism can coexist in leadership. On this remarkable milestone, I sincerely pray that God Almighty grants His Majesty good health, wisdom, peace, and strength as he continues to serve humanity. Happy 85th Birthday, Your Majesty. May your reign continue to flourish in peace, honour, and greatness. -PO

Most of us within the senior cadre of @PeterObi's orbit, abide strictly by his rules of not publicly accostùing those traducers who attack him needlessly. His emphasis has always been to focus keenly on policy issues germane to building a New Nigeria that is Possible. Regrettably, some presumably senior political operatives in the opposing camps, have made it a hobby or visibility raising knack to troll & attack PO. Whereas we will continue to show discipline and civility, we cannot give any guarantees that PO's legion of Obidient, Village Boys and OK Movement followers will show similar restraint. Those who seek to tar-and-feather PO, risks eliciting the Sam Omatseye Obi-tuary treatment. They should do their due diligence, in case they have forgotten.

Teargas in a Hospital, a Thoughtless Act. I have just read the recent troubling reports of how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a bid to arrest Professor Eyo Ekpe, a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and deputy chairman of the hospital’s medical advisory committee. While I understand and respect the fact that the EFCC, and indeed, all other government agencies have their constitutional rights to do their jobs without interference, the manner in which some of these jobs are carried out is often deeply troubling. Reportedly, the EFCC operatives who stormed the hospital shot some teargas canisters within the hospital premises which sent medical staff and patients running for safety. This thoughtless act greatly compromised the general safety in the hospital environment and further jeopardised the health of the medical personnel and the sick people in the hospital. I have always said that the most fundamental intangible asset upon which any nation functions effectively is the rule of law and order. The disorderliness allegedly demonstrated by the EFCC operatives at the hospital must not be encouraged. Nothing justifies the use of teargas canisters in a fragile hospital environment. Do we not realise that our hospitals are part of our most critical contributors to development? We must also learn to respect the lives and dignity of our citizens. If a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery is arrested in such a demeaning manner in a hospital environment, what signals are we sending to other medical professionals working hard to keep our health sector afloat? It is reported that Nigeria has only 80 cardiothoracic surgeons serving its 230 million people, and the Prof Eyo Ekpe is the only one in Akwa Ibom State. Let us learn to do better. Let us condemn and eschew the rascality and disorderliness that have continued to characterise some of our public offices and bring in civility in the discharge of our duties. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Obidients, look at the full picture. This Global LeadHaus graphic is not just “good news for Obi.” It is a loud warning siren. Raw support says Peter Obi is far ahead: Peter Obi: 67% — about 2,307,150 respondents Tinubu: 23% — about 792,350 respondents Atiku: 6% — about 206,700 respondents Others: 4% — about 137,800 respondents On popularity alone, Obi is eating the field alive. Tinubu is far behind. Atiku is distant. Amaechi, Makinde, Sowore and the rest are barely breathing in the numbers. But elections are not won by popularity inside a survey. Elections are won by people with PVCs. That is where the danger starts. Only 18% of Obi’s supporters in the sample had PVC, giving him about 415,287 PVC-ready supporters. Tinubu, with only 23% raw support, had 79.6% PVC ownership, giving him about 630,311 PVC-ready supporters. Atiku, despite just 6% raw support, had 72.6% PVC ownership, giving him about 150,064 PVC-ready supporters. Others had 46% PVC ownership, giving them about 63,388 PVC-ready supporters. So the real PVC-ready race in this dataset becomes: Tinubu: 630,311 Peter Obi: 415,287 Atiku: 150,064 Others: 63,388 That means Obi can be massively popular and still be electorally exposed. Tinubu can be less popular and still be better positioned because his voters are ready to vote. Atiku’s base may be smaller, but it is also more PVC-prepared than Obi’s by percentage. This is the message: Obi is winning preference. Tinubu is winning voter readiness. Atiku’s smaller camp is also more PVC-ready. The smaller candidates are not the threat. The PVC gap is the threat. No more comfort in crowd size. No more social media chest-beating. No more “we are many” without proof of registration. The assignment is simple: convert sympathy into PVCs, convert noise into ward-level structure, convert support into actual voters. Because on election day, INEC will not count passion. INEC will count accredited voters. No PVC, no power. ONLY 42 WORKING DAYS LEFT TO INEC FINAL PVC DEADLINE!!! cc: @PeterObi @KwankwasoRM @1MMCSpace @EmirSirdam @ruffydfire @firstladyship @RealQueenBee__ @Peter4Nigeria @AishaYesufu @EstherUmoh10 @NaijaPrez @Sports_Doctor2 @UnkleAyo @ifesalakooffice @tudobams @DrOaikhena @iamHSDickson @NigeriaNDCHQ @n6oflife6

International Nurses Day: INEC Chairman Promises Improved Welfare and Better Clinic Facilities The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Staff Clinic brought its 2026 Nurses Week celebration to a memorable close with a grand finale marking International Nurses Day, as health professionals, management staff, and dignitaries gathered to honor the dedication and sacrifices of nurses. The week-long celebration, themed “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” highlighted the critical role nurses play in healthcare delivery, patient safety, and national development. In her welcome address, Head of Nursing Unit, Nurse Mercy Ogunleye, described nurses as the backbone of compassionate healthcare delivery at the INEC Clinic. “Despite the inadequacies, we witness the power in our nurses’ clinical expertise, compassion for staff and their families, and dedication,” she said. Chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee and National Commissioner, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, in her opening remarks, praised nurses for their unwavering commitment to humanity and healthcare delivery. “Nursing is a work of heart,” she declared. “You are serving humanity and serving God. Nurses and doctors are chosen by God to serve humanity.” Prof. Gumus emphasized that International Nurses Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of nurses in patient care, disease prevention, and health promotion. She also referenced the symbolic significance of the oil lamp associated with Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. Delivering the keynote address, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Ndagi Alhassan, RN, PhD, FWAPCNM, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening the nursing profession through strategic reforms and professional empowerment. “As the sole regulatory body of Nursing and Midwifery education and practice in Nigeria, the Council has taken deliberate strategic actions to strengthen and advance the nursing profession,” he stated.

On this World Nurses Day, I would like to take a moment to appreciate all the nurses and midwives in our dear nation, who occupy a very special place and play very critical roles in our health sector. As one who has been on the vanguard of investing in our critical sectors of human and national development, I have always maintained that you, our dear nurses, are the heart of our health sector. Over the years, I have traversed different corners of our nation supporting different schools and colleges of nursing and midwifery because I understand the inevitable role you play in our healthcare delivery. As you mark this special day, I wish to, firstly, thank you for all your efforts and sacrifices. Your compassion, sacrifice, and resilience keep our nation alive. And secondly, I wish to encourage you not to relent in your service to humanity. Nigerian nurses work under some of the toughest conditions with dignity and courage. From physical and mental stress to high patient-to-nurse ratios, to lack of equipment and poor working environments, your resilience keeps our health sector going. And beyond the shores of the nation, our nurses have continued to make exploits on the global stage. From leading the next generation research in nursing practice to championing excellence in clinical practice—many Nigerian nurses have written their names on the sands of time and lifted our national banner high. I celebrate you all. My firm commitment to you all remains this — we will build a New Nigeria where your hard work and sacrifices will never go unnoticed. We will invest in your education and training to ensure that you remain competitive on the global stage. Happy World Nurses Day to you all. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Prudence is not stinginess, it is discipline. And in a country battling waste, corruption and misplaced priorities, discipline in leadership is exactly what Nigeria needs. When Peter Obi governed Anambra State, he showed that public funds are meant for public good, not personal luxury. He was known for cutting unnecessary spending, investing in critical sectors like education, healthcare and infrastructure, and leaving office with savings instead of debts. While many leaders borrowed recklessly, Anambra under Obi became one of the financially stable states in Nigeria. His prudent character helped him prioritize people over politics. Schools were supported, hospitals improved, roads constructed, and institutions strengthened because resources were managed carefully and transparently. Governance became about value, accountability and long-term development. Nigeria today needs that same mindset at the national level. A prudent president will reduce the cost of governance, block leakages, channel resources into productive sectors, and ensure that every kobo works for the people. In difficult economic times, leadership must be responsible, intentional and people-centered. In 2027, the question is not who can make the biggest promises, but who has already shown the character, discipline and competence to manage resources effectively. Peter Obi’s record in Anambra is proof that prudent leadership can transform lives, restore trust in government and build a stronger future for Nigeria. #NigeriaWillBeOk

"Some men change their party for the sake of their principles; others change their principles for the sake of their party." Winston Churchill Today, May 9th, I attended the 1st convention of my latest party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuja, Nigeria. The convention was successful and continued to show the resilience of Nigerians to change I express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the NDC family, led by the distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, for inviting us and for the generosity of spirit with which they have accommodated us at this critical moment in our national journey. I also wish to express profound gratitude to the African Democratic Congress(ADC), particularly Distinguished Senator David Mark, for providing a democratic platform and showing uncommon understanding when the ongoing litigation forced us out of the Labour Party and the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP respectively. That spirit of solidarity must remain the foundation upon which a better Nigeria will be built. Today, the most painful aspect of our political existence is that many who once benefited from democratic governance have now become willing accessories to the destruction of democracy itself. Those who once fought for justice now openly celebrate electoral injustice. Those who once spoke against impunity now defend coercion, manipulation, intimidation, and outright political gangsterism, especially against opposition voices. What we are witnessing is not politics; it is a systematic assault on democracy and the will of the people. Nigeria today stands at a dangerous crossroads. Our democracy is under severe threat. Our nation is drifting without direction, and our people are passing through immense suffering. Across the world, Nigeria is increasingly described as a failing and disgraced nation. This is not the destiny God ordained for our great country. It was not always so, and it must never be allowed to remain so. Across virtually every recognised indicator of good governance - accountability, political stability, rule of law, control of corruption, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, and the separation of powers - Nigeria continues to record alarming failures. The institutions that should protect the people are weakening daily, while the burden on ordinary citizens grows heavier with each passing moment. Today, over 140 million Nigerians live in multidimensional poverty. Tens of millions of young people remain unemployed or underemployed. Inflation continues to crush families. Businesses are shutting down. Farmers can no longer safely access their farms. Communities live in fear. In this month alone, hundreds of innocent Nigerians have lost their lives to insecurity, while many others have been kidnapped, displaced, or thrown deeper into poverty. The most heartbreaking question confronting us is this: Who consoles the grieving mother whose child was abducted on the way to school? Who speaks for the father who can no longer feed his family despite working every day? Who defends the young Nigerian whose dreams have been destroyed by a nation that rewards connections over competence and corruption over character? Our present tragedy is not accidental. It is the direct consequence of years of deliberate sabotage by a political class that prospers by dividing the people and weakening the nation. Nigeria is not a poor country; rather, we are being looted into poverty. We have abundant human and natural resources, yet we remain trapped in deprivation because leadership has failed to place the common good above personal interest. Our choice as a people is therefore clear: whether to surrender to despair and national decline, or to summon the courage to rescue our country and rebuild it on the foundations of unity, equity, justice, competence, and productivity.
